Our annual Chocolate & Champagne Gala has always been a celebration of community, courage, and commitment to reproductive freedom.
This year, we’re thrilled to revive a powerful tradition: the presentation of the Sonia Schorr Sloan Service Award, honoring individuals who, like Sonia, break barriers and uplift generations through service, advocacy, and fearless leadership.

Sonia Schorr Sloan was a force of nature, the first woman to earn a degree from Jefferson Medical College, a pioneering scientist, a civil rights advocate, and a transformative change-maker at Planned Parenthood of Delaware.
She helped build the very foundation we stand on today; including securing the funds for our current home at 625 N. Shipley St. We are honored to continue presenting this award in her name.

IN·clued is a groundbreaking educational program that addresses the s*xual health disparities impacting le***an, gay, bis*xual, transgender, and q***r and questioning (LGBTQ) youth in Delaware.
IN·clued is a program designed specifically for LGBTQ young people (14-19 years old) with the goals of increasing s*xual health and confidence in accessing s*xual healthcare. This is a 3-hour workshop and will include food! It will be scheduled on an as needed basis.

Planned Parenthood of Delaware is thrilled to offer a new program for families called LiFT: Linking Families and Teens. LiFT is a family connection program which was developed to help adults harness their superpower and support families to share their values, build their family bond, and talk about the tough stuff – including s*xual health and healthy relationships. This summer, the LiFT workshop will be offered twice: Saturday, September 13th and Sept 20th from 10am -4pm for free.

The “One Big Beautiful Bill” included a provision to “defund” Planned Parenthood by blocking patients from accessing care through the Medicaid program at Planned Parenthood health centers. Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) brought a lawsuit against the defunding provision, and at this time a preliminary injunction issued on 07/28/2025 grants relief for all Planned Parenthood affiliates nationwide while the case plays out. Planned Parenthood of Delaware (PPDE) is directly experiencing the impact of this legislation, having made the difficult decision to downsize and restructure its Education Department and pause its Behavioral Health program.
While we remain deeply committed to our clinical services, we have had to take a hard look at the feasibility of subsidizing our supportive services programs, all of which have had a lasting positive impact on individuals, families, and communities over the years. We unfortunately do not have the needed funding to sustain these valuable services, in a time when we are working hard every day to keep our clinic doors open for patients. Planned Parenthood of Delaware has shown up for patients for nearly one hundred years. We are not stopping now. We are doing everything in our power to keep our doors open, even when facing difficult decisions around services and staffing. Planned Parenthood will continue to provide our full spectrum of s*xual and reproductive health care because our communities depend on it.
This bill is a direct attack on our health, our rights, and our future. Access to s*xual and reproductive healthcare and bodily autonomy is a human right, and we will not back down.
