This Black History Month, we are reflecting on the fact that Reproductive Justice history IS Black history.

The Reproductive Justice movement was born from the leadership of Black women who recognized that reproductive rights cannot be separated from the fight against systemic oppression.

Addressing racial disparities in healthcare remains a critical mission. Currently, Black birthing people face a maternal mortality rate 3x higher than their white counterparts—a statistic we must change through advocacy, policy, and supporting Black-led maternal health initiatives.

Read our latest blog to learn about the history of the movement and how you can take action to support reproductive freedom for all.

A century of commemorations reminds us that the fight for progress is ongoing. 🕊️

In 2026, Black women in the U.S. are still 3x more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women. Systemic barriers and funding cuts continue to hit our Black and Brown neighbors the hardest.

We’re committed to closing this gap. From our clinics in Wilmington to Seaford, we are fighting to ensure that high-quality, non-judgmental healthcare remains accessible, regardless of your zip code or insurance status.

New year, same mission: Care. No matter what.

As we step into 2026, the landscape of reproductive rights is shifting—but Planned Parenthood of Delaware’s commitment to YOU remains unshakable.

This year, we aren’t just holding the line; we’re moving it forward. We have big goals for our community across the First State, and we want you to know exactly what we’re fighting for:

📍 Expanding Access: Across the state, we’re working to ensure that your zip code never determines the quality of your healthcare.
📚 Empowering Our Youth: We’re partnering with local schools to provide age-appropriate, evidence-based s*x education. Knowledge is power, and our youth deserve the truth.
🛡️ Protecting Privacy: With new challenges emerging, we are focused on strengthening shield laws to protect the privacy and safety of every patient and provider in Delaware.
🌈 Inclusivity for All: Our doors are open. We continue to provide a safe, affirming space for gender-affirming care, family planning, and essential screenings.

The road ahead is long, but we’re walking it together. We want to hear from you: How are you showing up for reproductive freedom in 2026? ✊✨

Your relationship with your body is one of the most important ones you’ll ever have. 💖

"Reproductive Justice is Black History."

In 1994, a group of 12 Black women—known as the Women of African Descent for Reproductive Justice—realized that the "pro-choice" movement didn’t fully encompass the lived experiences of people of color. They created the Reproductive Justice framework, focusing on four pillars:

The right to have children.
The right not to have children.
The right to parent in safe and healthy environments.
The right to bodily autonomy.

This month, we celebrate the Black-led organizations like and local advocates who continue to lead this movement. True freedom is impossible without reproductive justice.

This Valentine’s Day, we’re reclaiming the holiday. Self-love isn't just about bubble baths and face masks; it’s about Sexual Health Rights. It’s about:

Autonomy: Having the power to make choices about your own body.

Knowledge: Access to accurate, shame-free information.

Care: Prioritizing your physical and mental well-being without apology.

You deserve a love that respects your boundaries and honors your health—especially the love you give yourself. 🫶

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and we’re talking about the foundation of every healthy relationship: Consent. ❤️

There’s a common myth that asking for consent "breaks the mood." In reality, checking in with your partner shows respect, care, and confidence. Whether it’s a first date or a long-term partnership, healthy communication is what makes intimacy feel safe and enjoyable.

A Guide to Healthy Communication:
✅ Be Specific: Instead of guessing, ask! "Can I take your shirt off?" or "Is this okay?"
✅ Enthusiasm Matters: Consent should be enthusiastic, informed, and given freely.
✅ It’s Reversible: Just because someone said yes ten minutes ago (or last week) doesn't mean they can't change their mind now.
✅ Check the Vibes: If your partner seems distracted or uncomfortable, take a beat to check in.

Let's prioritize pleasure and safety this year. Have questions about s*xual health or healthy relationships? We’re here for you. 🏥✨

The reality is clear: race and zip code still impact maternal health outcomes. Black and Indigenous parents face significantly higher risks during pregnancy and childbirth due to systemic inequities in our healthcare system.

At Planned Parenthood, we’re fighting to bridge that gap. We provide the essential reproductive care, education, and advocacy needed to ensure every parent—regardless of their background—has the support they need to thrive.

Everyone deserves a safe, healthy, and joyful pregnancy. Let’s work toward a future where health equity is the standard, not the exception. 🖤
