Headaches are common and in many cases, rest, hydration and lifestyle adjustments help to manage them. However, it's important to recognize when a headache may be a sign of something more serious.

If you experience a sudden, severe headache or one that’s accompanied by unusual symptoms such as vision changes, confusion or fever, seek medical attention promptly.

When in doubt, talk to your provider!

Congratulations to Payton Floars, Ultrasound Technologist, who earned the most recent Gold Standard of Patient Care Award.

The Gold Standard of Patient Care Award is a special honor, chosen each month based on direct patient feedback from our returned surveys. This award highlights those who go above and beyond, demonstrating compassion, exceptional care and a commitment to creating a positive experience for every patient.

Payton was recognized by a patient in a recent survey, who commented: “Needless to say, I was very nervous and anxious about my procedure, but Payton provided a sense of compassion and assurance that eased my anxiety and nerves. I couldn't have asked for better care than what I received from Payton. She is to be commended on her professionalism, compassion, patience and the excellent delivery of her way of calming this 62-year-old woman down. Thank you so much!”

Thank you, Payton, for being an example of patient-centered care!

Congratulations to our Wilson Medical Center Board Chairman Pender Sharp, who recently completed 36 visits to graduate from our Pulmonary Rehabilitation class.

A lifelong farmer, Mr. Sharp has always led an active life. Over the past year, however, he began experiencing increased shortness of breath, eventually leading to a diagnosis of COPD. With encouragement from Wilson Pulmonary Associates' Dr. Binav Shrestha, Mr. Sharp enrolled in pulmonary rehab.

Throughout the program, Mr. Sharp worked hard to improve his endurance and breathing. One of the highlights of his journey was being able to climb all the steps at his grandson’s graduation at N.C. State without shortness of breath — a goal that once seemed out of reach and now marks a major victory in his recovery.

Mr. Sharp increased his walking distance by an impressive 60%, while also gaining confidence in managing his COPD. He took full advantage of the education provided in the program, and shared with the pulmonary rehab team that, “I’ve learned I can live a normal life.”

We appreciate your ongoing support of Wilson Medical -- and its services, Mr. Sharp!
