WHAT TO EAT
“What should I eat after my workout?”
• The perfect “post workout” meal consist of a combination of complex carbs, protein, and healthy fats.
• The carbs helps replenish your glycogen or “energy” storage, which you most likely depleted during your workout.
• The protein helps repair muscles and tissues damaged during exercise, and aids in muscle protein synthesis. Which is the process of building stronger and bigger muscles, out of the old damaged ones.
This can lead to increases in strength, performance and overall lean mass.
• These are just examples and the protein options can easily be swapped, like chicken breast and vegetables, tuna salad with whole grain pita, or a turkey sandwich with vegetables.
• If you’re in a rush or on the go, protein shakes, smoothies, or bars are also a great option.

• The first mistake I see in the push-up, from the youth especially, is flaring of the elbows. This puts extra pressure on the shoulders and could eventually lead to injury. Tucking the elbows help take pressure off the shoulders, and engage the triceps, which leads to a stronger press.
• The next mistake I see is the sinking of the hips. The push-up should look like a plank, which is basically a regression of the exercise, in which the core should be engaged. Engaging or “tightening” your core helps the hips from sinking, and creates a straight line from the shoulders to the hips. Which helps protect and strengthen your lower back.
• The last mistake is the positioning of the hands. Hands in front of the shoulders also puts unneeded pressure on the joints and should be placed directly underneath the shoulders. This also helps the elbows form the optimal angle of around 45 degrees. Another cue I like to use for this is, “elbows at 4 & 8 o clock”.

• the daily recommendation is 1.5 to two cups of fruit per day, and two to three cups of vegetables per day.

• the study also found that women eat more produce than men, and young adults eat fewer fruits and vegetables than other age groups.

• “It’s important to get these numbers up, according to the CDC, because plant-heavy diets have been shown to reduce the risk for everything from type 2 diabetes and obesity to cardiovascular disease and some types of cancer.
