Two years post-transplant today! 💚

From transplant day, to one year, and now two years later, Evelyn is thriving. Her spot-check liver biopsy and labs continue to come back clear, and she’s growing into the most amazing little girl.

Not a day goes by that we don’t feel incredibly blessed to have her in our lives, and forever grateful for her donor. Our hearts are with her donor’s family today as we remember the ultimate gift they gave, the gift of life.

In Evelyn’s honor, please consider registering as an organ donor at registerme.org.

I can’t believe it’s been two years since Evelyn received her first major abdominal surgery. We didn’t know where this would lead, but looking back we feel like every step was a necessary step to get to where we are today, a happy healthy Evelyn! 💚🤍 We’re so appreciative of Gods grace and love on this journey.

As Evelyn grows she’ll still continue to have needs and expenses that will need to be met. We never want her to have to worry about medical care. During this season of giving, please visit https://cota.org/cotaforevelyn/ to follow our story and donate. All fundraising will benefit COTA in honor of Evelyn to assist with transplant-related expenses.

We’re so grateful for the continued support Evelyn receives from Kosair for Kids. They’ve helped us in so many ways just this year alone. Everything from helping us pay for medication to covering the cost of therapy. This is truly a wonderful organization and if you are looking for a group to donate to this holiday season, let it be them. They help so many children meet necessary needs and improve their quality of life. So proud Evelyn is a Kosair kid.

In all the chaos of the past few days we haven’t had a chance to share that Evelyn was discharged! Being back home is so much better than the hospital. Unfortunately she’s shared of her viruses to mom and sister so we’re all in recovery mode. Just glad we’re all together.

Standard Evelyn move. We were just bragging on how well she was doing so I suppose she thought it’d be a good idea to test our hospital readiness! She was admitted to Cincinnati Children’s on Saturday evening. She’s got two viruses that have just been kicking her butt so we’re here to support her through it. 🦠💪🏻

Evelyn started perking up yesterday evening and we spent the afternoon looking out the window saying “side” for outside and climbing into our wagon waving bye. 👋🏻 I think she’s ready to leave!

Today her appetite has increased and she’ll be getting some extra IV antibodies to help support her body. Hoping to discharge soon! Keep her in your prayers.

1 year ago today, Evelyn headed into surgery to receive her new liver. We have been so fortunate that we haven’t had too many complications since her transplant. Don’t get me wrong, there have been struggles but ultimately our girl has thrived! Evelyn is strong-willed, independent, and so spunky! We are so thankful to all of her supporters, prayer warriors, medical team, and most of all to her donor and their family. We pray for you everyday. Thank you to everyone who’s been a part of this journey with us. We couldn’t have done it without you. 💚

Evelyn is continuing to improve post transplant! 💚 For those who don’t know we did an ultrasound last month that showed no more narrowing of her hepatic artery which means we got to stop giving blood thinner shots twice a day! Such a relief. This brings us one step closer to normalcy with our family. God bless our little warrior.

So grateful to everyone who made this possible from volunteers to donors. Even post transplant we will continue to fundraise as we have continued medical cost and want to ensure Evelyn is medically secure in her future. Help us meet our $75,000 goal for COTA in honor of Evelyn! Visit COTAforEvelyn.com

A BIG Thank You to our amazing COTA volunteers who are working tirelessly throughout the nation to raise funds for transplant-related expenses. Please join us in giving a special SHOUT OUT to volunteers for the COTA for Evelyn campaign who received COTA’s $2,500 Challenge Grant by raising more than $25,000 within their first six months of fundraising.

Spending another night in the ER. Fortunately Evelyn is not actually sick but her feeding tube ripped and we need a replacement since she gets continuous feeds. Because her tube is bridled in, so she can’t pull it out, there’s only one person here who can change it. We’re been waiting almost 4 hours now for her. Praying Evelyn does not get sick from this experience because no rooms are open so we’re on a bed in the hallway. Lord please keep the germs away and my baby safe. Feeling pretty tired of these experiences.

Well unfortunately miss Evelyn continued to worsen at home. Her team is torn if her continued vomiting is due to the virus still running its course or if her stomach is recovering from having such a harsh tummy virus and she’s just not able to hold down her feeds right now. We’ll see how she does. Just ready for her to feel better.
