Thirty years ago today my mom married my stepdad Bob (who has since passed and I miss so much) and my life was all upside down. I had just come out of a marriage to a man who cheated, lied and almost ruined me emotionally, and financially. Little did I know though that the next day (30 yrs ago tomorrow) would be a day that would change my life forever.
I was trying to restart my life I had moved to Lexington was working two jobs and just trying to stay busy. I had been talking to a gentleman from Wi******er and we made arrangements to go out to a movie 2/12/95. I was definitely not looking for anyone at the time just maybe a friend and someone to hangout with but I guess Gid had other plans.
February 12, 1995 I met in person David Lucas. We went to see the movie Houseguest with Sinbad. I think I was a nervous wreck. I wouldn’t eat or drink anything at the movies even popcorn and that is one of my favorite things.
He took me back to my apartment and we talked for a little while and he prepared to leave and as we reached the door he asked me if he could kiss me and boy what a kiss it was. Most definitely not one I have ever forgotten even in all these 30 years.
As I sit and ponder on the last 30 years there has been many amazing movies, amazing trips, five kids we adopted together, we now have 7 grandchildren 5 living and beautiful angels in heaven there have been many deaths of family members and friends, one bad year relationship wise, many financial ups and downs and yet we have survived by the Grace of God.
Our wedding song was “The Keeper of the Stars” and it was only by God that put this what we call our life together.
He brought me my best friend, love of my life, and partner in everything and I feel more blessed than anyone deserves.
David Happy 30th first date Anniversary!! I love you and thank you for being my ride partner on this roller coaster of our life. Thank you for all your love and support, taking care of me with my health issues and this weightloss journey I am on. You are my true blessing in this life. I love you now and forever and can’t wait to see what God has in store for us this next 30 years!! (Probably have making scooter’s, lol)
