🎉Meet Our New Provider! We’re excited to welcome Kaitlyn Burns, MS, PA-C to the Dermatology Center of Wi******er. Beginning January 6th, Kaitlyn will be seeing patients at our new Amherst Street location for skin exams, eczema care, acne treatment, and a full range of medical dermatology services.

Kaitlyn is a board-certified Dermatology Physician Assistant with advanced clinical training and a true passion for patient-centered, compassionate care. She completed the prestigious Clinical Dermatology Fellowship under Dr. Stashower and brings extensive experience treating both common and complex skin conditions. Her academic achievements include graduating with high honors from Monmouth University with a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies, and earning her Bachelor of Science, magna cm laude, from Virginia Tech.

✨ Fun Fact: Kaitlyn is a proud mom to four sweet girls, ages six and under — keeping her days full, joyful, and always on the move.

Winter sun may feel weaker, but UVA rays (the ones that cause aging and skin cancer) stay strong all year long. UV can also reflect off snow and bright surfaces, increasing exposure.

Dermatology advice:
• Wear SPF 30+ daily
• Apply to face, ears, neck, and hands
• Use a moisturizing sunscreen if your skin is dry
• Reapply before outdoor activities

Daily sunscreen remains one of the most effective ways to protect your skin’s health — in every season.

You may start hearing more about “retinol body care” going into 2026 — and yes, there can be benefits when used safely. Retinoids can help improve texture, rough patches, keratosis pilaris, and uneven tone.

But body skin is different from facial skin, and using retinoids incorrectly can cause irritation.

Dermatology guidelines:
• Start slowly (1–2× weekly)
• Moisturize generously
• Avoid broken or sensitive skin
• Use sunscreen on exposed areas
• Stop if burning or peeling worsens

One of the rising trends heading into 2026 is the gentle, barrier-friendly “milky toner.”

These are not the harsh, astringent toners of the past. They’re hydrating, calming, and designed for dry or sensitive skin — especially in winter.

Our perspective:
• Helpful for adding light hydration before moisturizer
• Usually fragrance-free and gentle
