Something that’s been on my heart since I finished my postpartum practitioner training is the lack of care for mothers who have miscarried.

Miscarriage care is postpartum care.

You, your body & spirit, need & deserve tending no matter the outcome of your birth.

Birth is birth whether it happens at 37+ weeks or 7 weeks.

Once your womb inhabits a life, there is an openness that needs closing, an outpouring of spirit that needs containment, a relationship that needs honoring.

I believe in my bones that you are a mother whether your babies live on the spiritual or physical plane. This work is for all mothers.

Tending the flame of the moxa box parallels tending the flame, the vitality of a new mother

It’s naturally low after birth, but often gets stomped out by improper diet, isolation, and excess stress & strain. This leads to health issues and the overwhelming feeling of helplessness in caring for our baby and ourselves.

With the moxa box, I sit with the flame. Letting it burn low and slow, containing the smoke, fanning the flame, relighting where it’s gone out, redistributing where it’s getting too clustered, keeping constant presence with it, keeping presence & communication with the mother in front of me.

My work is in tending the flames. Building the body, building vitality & resiliency—through proper foods, connection, and integrating the lessons of birth & motherhood.

When we intentionally support this flame, we’re supporting the spark that keeps us going through challenges, the warmth that grounds us guides us.

If you’re interested in experiencing the healing warmth of moxa, join me for Reframe & Rekindle—a workshop centered on cultivating capacity through warmth & gratitude or book a Mothering the Mother session through the link below.

Mothering the Mother testimonial:

“This offering was so nourishing. The womb massage and moxibustion left me feeling warm from the inside out. My feet are usually cold but after this experience they stayed warm all day, my circulation was so much better. I felt so relaxed and my cup was filled to overflowing with Corinne’s loving guidance. I highly recommend to any postpartum mamas.” -Cameron G.

Leaving a clients house I had the thought..

There is no competition while you massage the feet of another woman

There is no comparison as you hear her heart and her fears

There is no jealousy while you cook her a meal

Living life in devoted service heals the deepest wound

I am continually humbled, softened, and amazed by the women who choose to work with me. The love I can feel for someone who was a stranger and few hours ago floors me. Their stories excavate any dogma lingering in my psyche.

My heart is overflowing with gratitude

Feeling drained, burnt out, or overwhelmed? This is for you 🌞 a reprieve to practice & embody gratitude, enabling us to expand our capacity WITHOUT the bu****it spiritual bypassing we hear as moms(I.e. “you should just be grateful!” )

This is raw, feel it in your bones while your heart breaks gratitude that fosters resilience, not shame

You can throw supplements, new diets, the best therapies, and the ✨perfect✨ parenting strategies at your child—

But if your internal world is a mess, it won’t matter.

Our children are our mirrors.

The dysfunctional patterns in us, will show up in them. What is unhealed in us, will show up in them.

In their sleep, their behaviors, their attitudes, and their dis-ease.

This is the greatest gift of motherhood—IF you're willing to SEE & DO something about what you see.

If we want our children to heal & our families to flourish, we have to be willing to go first.

Healthy thriving children start with healthy thriving mothers.

When I realized my daughter’s anger & outbursts was a reflection of the anger she witnessed & could feel in me, it was like a ton of bricks landed on my chest.

It would be so much easier for me to say:

“well if my husband did xyz I wouldn’t be so angry”
“I have a right to be angry because of all I’ve been through”
“It’s not THAT bad. All kids hit/throw things/yell”

or to just get angry at her anger.

(I’ve done all of these)

But my child’s rage was demanding me to stop bu****itting myself & to start taking responsibility for my own rage.

Now when she’s going through it, it softens me. I just see me. And I can treat her with the love that my own rage is asking for. WHILE I tend to all the reasons I’ve struggled with anger.

I’ve been gifted so many opportunities to heal & see the dysregulation within our family through my children—relentless diaper rashes, excessive anger, colic, constipation, sleepless nights, play themes, breastfeeding issues like thrush & chronic clogged ducts, and so much more.

Each time, I was granted an opportunity to connect, to see into what my child was experiencing. They set the alarm that something is OFF in the system.

Their nervous systems are intimately connected to our nervous systems until they’re 7 years old. Our internal world is their world.

When I am willing to see and feel into these opportunities, I’m less baffled & frustrated with my kids behavior. I recognize my responsibility & feel capable to take actionable steps—

because it’s not about changing them, it’s about changing me.

The first step to growing is seeing

Motherhood gives us eyes

To see all that is lacking
To see all that is overlooked
To see all that is wrong

refusing to look when it’s too painful is how we stay the childish mother—stuck, miserable, selfish.

She can see what’s right in front of her, but to acknowledge it means to do something about it.

So she refuses to look. She numbs, she avoids, she outsources, she blames, and pushes for the “normalization” dysfunction.

The call of the mother is to grow up. To grow past herself. To see and be changed by what she sees.

To let herself wonder if there’s something that can be done about it.

Early postpartum is not meant to be hard in all the ways that we make it hard.

With my first baby it was a very typical experience.
I did everything myself. I took care of the baby, I washed bottle parts, I was up walking around & lugging around a heavy carrier days postpartum, I was eating pizza, and chips, and Pb&js, anything I could shove in my mouth really fast cause feeding myself was a CHORE. I did not rest.

And as a result—I struggled to breastfeed to the point I was on the brink of giving up a few months in, just willpowering my way through it. I was miserable, depressed, crying constantly. I thought I was a horrible mother. I got on antidepressants which made everything worse. I knew there had to be another way.

Fast forward to my second birth—-

I was in bed for 2 weeks just nursing & sleeping & eating. I didn’t go farther than the couch for the rest of the 6 weeks. I was taken care of. I ate well. I focused on loving on my baby & body. I embraced the emotions that came & cultivated the lessons I needed from them. I didn’t struggle. Breastfeeding was easeful. I was never bone tired like I had been with my first. The lack of sleep at night barely affected me. My body healed quickly. I experienced 0 of the symptoms we’ve associated with postpartum. It was blissful and beautiful.

This reality was possible because I made it possible. I made it a priority & created it for myself.

I intentionally married a man who would care for me & gave him what he needed to do so.

I cultivated and fed into a community that would care for me.

Nobody is going to magically show up to be your village when you’re not actively creating that reality for yourself. When you’re not prioritizing or valuing your own care.

It’s on you to first realize that you DESERVE & NEED this kind of postpartum care

& then you get to create it.
