As a member of our Board of Directors, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of Windsor Severance Fire Rescue. Your responsibilities will include strategic planning, financial oversight, policy development, and ensuring the highest standards of service and safety for our community.

WSFR is a Colorado Special Tax District overseen by a five-member Board of Directors. Directors serve four-year terms and elections are held the second Tuesday of May in odd calendar years. Board meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month at Fire Station 1 and are open to the public. If you are selected for this position, you will serve until the next election during the 2nd quarter of 2025.

To be eligible for this position, you must own property within the response district for Windsor Severance Fire Rescue and be a registered voter. If you are interested, please submit a packet to include a letter of interest and resume to Fire Chief Chris Angermuller by the close of business on June 6, 2024. Packets may be emailed to cangermuller@wsfr.us or dropped off at the admin office located at 100 N. 7th Street, Windsor, CO 80550.

Come meet our three fire Chief finalists at Station 1, Tuesday, November 28th at 6p

Please join us at a community meet and greet for our three WSFR Fire Chief finalists. The event will be held from 6-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 28 at Fire Station 1, 100 N 7th St., Windsor.

• Chris Angermuller has been Deputy Chief for the Grand Junction Fire Department in Colorado since 2019. He has also been serving as Interim Fire Chief for the Clifton Fire Protection District under contract since January 2023. He was Assistant Chief and Battalion Chief for the Kingman Fire Department in Arizona from 2016-2019, and was with the Overland Park Fire Department in Kansas from 1997-2015. Mr. Angermuller has a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Kansas, a bachelor's degree in Public Administration from Park University, he is a graduate of the National Fire Academy's Executive Fire Officer Program, and he will soon be completing a doctorate degree in Public Administration.

• William Gray has been the Fire Chief/Emergency Manager for the Boulder City Fire Department in Nevada since 2020. Prior to that, he was with the Pueblo Fire Department in Colorado for 26 years, starting there as a Firefighter/Fire Medic and promoting through the ranks, serving as Emergency Medical Officer, Training Officer/Captain – Administrative Bureau, Fire Captain – Operations Bureau, and he was Assistant Fire Chief – Operations Bureau when he retired in 2020. Mr. Gray has an associate degree in Fire Science from Columbia Southern University and a bachelor's degree in Fire Administration, also from Columbia Southern University.

• Darren Jaques is currently serving as the Interim Fire Chief for Windsor Severance Fire Rescue in Colorado. He has been with the district since 2000 when he started as a Firefighter and progressed through the ranks, serving as Engineer, Lieutenant, Battalion Chief, and finally Deputy Chief. Mr. Jaques has a Master of Science degree in Organizational Leadership-Human Resources Specialization from Colorado State University, a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Maranatha Baptist College, and an Associate of Applied Science degree in Fire Science Technology from Aims Community College.

Traffic change starting Monday

‼️ TRAFFIC ALERT ‼️
Starting next week on Monday, April 24, the southbound left turn lane onto Walnut St. from 7th St. will be closed to conduct a data collection study on intersection safety and efficiency. The closure will last three weeks and temporary traffic control devices – such as barrels and cones – will be in place to direct cars away from the turn. This study will help gather valuable information to better improve 7th St. as a part of the roadway improvements, anticipated to take place in 2024.

[Southbound I-25 full closure at Crossroads Boulevard]

🗓️ 9 p.m., Tuesday, March 28 to 5 a.m., Wednesday, March 29

To perform roadway maintenance, Colorado Department of Transportation crews will perform a full closure of southbound I-25 from Exit 259/Crossroads Boulevard.

Southbound traffic will exit I-25 at Exit 259/Crossroads Boulevard, head east to Centerra Parkway, proceed south on Centerra Parkway to US 34 and west on US 34 to the southbound I-25 on-ramp.

It is with a heavy heart that the Windsor Police Department announces the passing of Officer Ty Powell. Officer Powell was a United States Marine Corps Veteran and long-time law enforcement officer, having served the Windsor community, touching countless lives, for over 19 years and previously with the Jackson County (CO) Sheriff’s Office.

WPD officers will be shrouding their badges in mourning and in memory of the caring and dedicated service to which Officer Powell committed himself during his life. Please keep the family of Officer Powell in your hearts during this difficult time.
