Safe sleep is simple, yet so very important! Remember, the ABC's of safe sleep. A-Alone and in their crib B-Always place infant on their backs C-Clutter free crib - no loose blankets, bumper pads, toys, baby wipes, pillows, etc.
Co-sleeping seems so sweet, but it is very dangerous. Smoking puts your baby at a higher risk for SIDS. Recommended to have the baby alone in their crib by your bed side for the first 6 months of life. Car seats and swings are not safe for infants to sleep in. If you bring your baby in asleep in the car seat - gently remove the baby and put him/her down on their back in a crib. If baby's fall sleep in the swing - their heads can flop forward and asphyxiation can occur. Again, turn swing off and place baby on their back in their crib (bassinet).
