If you have these same questions, here’s some information that may help:
What is a health coach?
Health & wellness coaches support clients in activating internal strengths and external resources to make sustainable and healthy lifestyle behavior changes. Health coaches use a client-centered approach wherein clients decide their goals, engage in self-discovery or active learning processes, and self-monitor behaviors to increase accountability, all within the context of an interpersonal relationship with a health coach.
Whatever goal the client sets, the health coach ensures that they are supported until the desired outcome is achieved. Board-certified coaches have trained to the highest standards in the profession which means we have the skills and knowledge to walk alongside you on your path to your healthiest self.
Coach vs Therapist
Coaches leverage their expertise in behavior change to help clients build momentum, confidence, and accountability on their journey towards change. Coaches focus on a client’s current state and help to create action plans to achieve future goals or outcomes.
Therapists are licensed mental health professionals who specialize in helping clients develop better cognitive and emotional skills, reduce symptoms of mental illness, and cope with various life challenges to improve their lives. Therapy often focuses on the past and on introspection and analysis, with the hope of resolving past issues and creating a happier, more stable future.
