Letter from Courtney’s Great Aunt, Karen Harvey:
Dear Courtney (aka Cork, Cork-a-Knee)- my beautiful girl,
It’s been a week and a half since you’ve been gone. It seems like years. How did this happen, Cork??? You had just started this new adventure in your life: moving back “home”, new nursing career, new townhome and new car. It was supposed to be a beautiful new start, not an abrupt end.
We were all so excited to have our pretty YaYa back home… little Frisky. We should be going to the pool, movies and buying you milk (oops- you finally started drinking other beverages). We should be trying new lotions, potions and beauty products. We were going to have so much fun!
You were finally going to get that standard poodle (the breed I have always wanted). MaMaw wanted you to name her Pink Chiffon and call her Ms. Pinky, since pink was your favorite color. You put the deposit down on her, right before you got really sick. We were all so excited for you to bring her home.
You and I shared a deep love for animals. Cork, we “never birthed no babies”, but we love our fur babies with our whole hearts and then some! Please say hello to Ms Bon Bon/Bonnie and tell PB I love him even more now than when he was with me.
Enjoy our fur babies and tell Grammar, Grandper, Dowin, Bob and Jake, “Hey!” for me. I know they are so happy to see you!
Love you —— Miss you —— Mean it! ~ Aunt Karen
P.S. After Bon Bon passed away, you said that whenever you saw a white feather, it was a sign that she was near. I loved texting you photos of white feathers, when I would find them outside. I will continue to look for them, knowing it’s a sign that you and Bonnie are near. 🤍🤍
