Aveanna Advocacy in Action! Our North Carolina team members spent the day yesterday at the state capitol in Raleigh meeting with legislators to emphasize the need to restore recent cuts to Medicaid funding for medically complex children and their caregivers. They urged state leaders to fully fund the Medicaid rebase to protect access, ensure stability, and strengthen the home care workforce.

For Maeve and Klara's family, their care journey has been anything but easy. In their short lives, they've been diagnosed with Moyamoya disease, a condition that caused them to have multiple strokes before the age of one. They have undergone indirect bypass surgeries on both sides of their brains and spent months in the hospital.

"Every day brings new challenges as they work through therapies and fight to meet milestones many take for granted," said their mom. "Through it all, our incredible nurse, Monet, has become part of our family."

Since they joined Aveanna, Nurse Monet has met their family with unmatched dedication and support. She helps with therapies, feeding, bay time, and medications, while also providing Maeve and Klara's family with the peace of mind that their precious daughters are safe at home. By keeping them healthy and surrounded by their loving parents and triplet sibling, Monet offers comfort, kindness, and expertise when they need it most.

"Monet's honesty, transparency, and incredible work ethic shine through every day, and she somehow manages to keep us laughing even through the hardest moments," Maeve and Klara's mom said. "Having our girls home, surrounded by that kind of care, has been such a blessing and a source of strength for our family."

Fully fund North Carolina Medicaid. Recent Medicaid cuts threaten care for medically complex children across our state.

For 16-year-old Ahmed, the lifesaving skilled nursing care and home medical equipment funded through North Carolina Medicaid are essential to his daily life and his ability to live safely at home with his family. Without this support, Ahmed could not safely remain at home, where he belongs and has been able to thrive for 16 years.

We’re asking state leaders to protect access, ensure stability, and support the workforce that makes care possible.
