This week, I got to massage over a dozen beautiful faces, and necks, teach a little bit, do a few microdermabrasions and a few chemical peels, help restore some stressed skin, and help relax everyone who came into my treatment room.

After several months of sporadically deep diving into color analysis- and decades of not really knowing why I couldn’t find colors I felt comfortable in and looked good, I have finally figured out….. my skin tone is olive!! Whaaaat?!?!
I figured it out not subjectively but through creating multiple versions of a mineral makeup base. Too pink, too orange, too dead, and eventually created this one. Warm red, yellow, brown, and black oxides is olive coloring. Who knew? Certainly not me!
Following that, my season is between soft and deep autumn! And it feels incredibly good to wear those colors!
Also, I am now….
Licensed and working!! And loving it!!

It’s official!! I can’t wait to start working!! One more hurdle- the state board exam! No worries, I can jump! It’s a small hurdle lol!

Dear Ponds Cold Cream,

I’ve snubbed you far too long, and I was wrong. I believed for decades that petroleum products like mineral oil were terrible for skin and cause microtears and all sorts of foolishness, and I now amend my deviant ways and salute you.

You’ve been at my side, removing my eyeliner on those rare occasions I actually take the time to put it on, and have done wonderfully. But that’s all I’ve let you do. Until Saturday.

I had over exfoliated over the past week with retinol and nano infusion and more retinol and PHA toner and my face said “no more, crazy lady you done dried me out and now I’m red and flaky so deal with that, why don’t you!”

Yes, Ma’am I will, I didn’t mean to! So for a few days I went super gently with everything and only used the best hydration and moisturizers but it wasn’t quite enough.

Saturday night, Ponds, I finished the evening with you and went to bed.

And Sunday, I probably didn’t help because I kept touching my baby smooth face!!! Ponds?! Wow!!! You are a great occlusive barrier that helps my hyaluronic acid or ceramides or whatever serum I choose to use stay in my skin. You’ve been here all these years, and I judged you wrongly. My dry skin now fully appreciates you!!!!!

Sometimes the most available and low cost things do greater good than credit is given for!!

Some of the best parts of being in esthetics is having a slow day morph into a treatment day! 3 layer TCA peel (chemical resurfacing), brow tint, and leg wax made the day fly by with my esti-bestie!! The legs and face are so smoooooth !!
