💗 Survivor Story: Meet Mo
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
This October, we honor the strength, resilience, and courage of survivors in our YMCA family. Today, we are humbled to share a powerful story from one of our own — Monica, lovingly known as “Mo,” a member of the William G. White, Jr. Family YMCA.
In 2017, Mo received the news no one ever wants to hear: she was diagnosed with Stage 3 metastatic breast cancer. At the same time, she was also navigating the trauma of domestic violence. Overnight, her life changed — and the battle began.
Despite fear and uncertainty, Mo chose to fight.
Through her journey, Mo found connection and hope here at the Y. She met other survivors, discovered the strength of community, and participated in our LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA program — rebuilding confidence one step at a time. ✨
Today, Mo bravely shares her story to encourage others and remind us all:
“No one fights alone.”
Please join us in celebrating Mo — her perseverance, her spirit, and her willingness to reach back and lift others up.
To Mo, and to every survivor in our community:
We see you. We honor you. We are with you.
