The average adult needs about 0.8 g/kg of body weight.
That means a person who weighs 172 lbs needs ~64 grams of protein per day — not 150, not 200.

Many “protein bars” actually contain more fat and sugar than protein, making them more like energy bars than true protein sources. The good news? A well-balanced diet easily provides all the protein most people need — no supplements required.

Here are some plant-based protein sources and how much protein they provide per serving:
Lentils (1 cup cooked): 18g
Chickpeas (1 cup cooked): 14g
