Powerpenia is the age-related loss of muscular power — the ability to produce force quickly.
It’s not just about losing strength; it’s about losing speed and explosiveness.

The Baby Boomer Institute has been waiting for a physical location of it's very own since it's inception in 2019. We're excited to launch a satellite location in Central Florida.

John Castro, the founder and operator of the Baby Boomer Institute has worked with a special segment of our population that has been largely underserved since 1995.

This group of adults is made up of men and women, between the ages of 55 to 95 who are interested in staying active, staying strong and living longer "Functional" years.

This new facility provides these same individuals the opportunity to work with a Certified Functional Aging Specialist and Training Consultant to provide specific programs to help achieve levels of optimal health, wellness and cognition.

Soon we will be opening opportunities for individuals to set up a complimentary tour and mini consultation. We are accepting only 50 applicants and will choose 20 new BBI members to work with based on who we feel we can make the best and biggest life impact with.

Stay tuned for upcoming details coming soon. We will be launching by Friday, September 1st. 10 potential members will be chosen by that date and subsequent members will join throughout the following 30 days.

These are your most valuable years. Isn't it time to make the best investment in yourself? We'll see you...

MONDAY MOTIVATION:

Well done...

It's always easy to grab a catchy quote and use it to inspire yourself to believe it will be helpful in getting you to start and/or achieve your goals. Here's one of my favorites:

"You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great." -Zig Ziglar

It's one of those easy reverse the first part with the second part and it's motivational. "You don't know love till it's gone, but gone is love if you don't know." LOL! Ok, this one is a joke, but so is the first one if all you do is read it, save it on your phone or post it on Facebook like some kind of wannabe motivational speaker.

Quotes are great for the moment. They are perfect to get you to start believing, that it was what was missing to get you started and then keep you going. It's that warm and fuzzy feeling that says, "I think I can, I think I can."

I'm not telling you to give up your quotes, I'm merely sharing with you that its time start doing and stop talking. Gone are the days of doing just anything and feeling like, "At least I did something. If it's important to you, it requires a job well done. Notice, I did not state it had to be a perfect job, it just needs extra-ordinary effort.

"Whatever is worth doing at all is worth doing well." -Lord Chesterfield

There is so much information out there, so many people and resources of knowledge. The only thing lacking for most is EFFORT. Find someone who is doing what it is you want to do, ask them for help, hire them, listen to them, implement what they teach you. Be a student of gratitude and contribution. The best form of gratitude is your contribution to doing any job worth doing... and doing it well.

BBQ Chicken Avocado boats 🥑

Don’t have more than 10 minutes to prepare ‪dinner tonight‬? I’ve got you covered with this super quick, high protein, crowd-pleasing recipe! These BBQ Chicken Avocado Boats are a delicious combination of roasted chicken and crunchy bell peppers covered in BBQ sauce and served on top of creamy avocado.

To make this recipe as quick as possible, purchase pre-roasted chicken from the store, or use leftover cooked chicken from yesterday’s meal. Then all you need to do is chop the bell pepper, mix everything together, scoop on top of avocado and serve!

What you need:

Serves 2
1 cup roasted chicken, chopped
½ red bell pepper, seeded and sliced
½ green bell pepper, seeded and sliced
1 Tablespoon BBQ sauce
1 large avocado, pitted and halved lengthwise
1 Tablespoon cilantro, chopped
sprinkle of sweet paprika
sprinkle of sea salt
sprinkle of black pepper

Instructions
1. In a medium bowl combine the chicken, bell peppers and BBQ sauce. Mix until fully combined.
2. Divide the chicken mixture between the two avocado halves and sprinkle with cilantro, sweet paprika, sea salt and black pepper. Serve immediately. Enjoy!
Nutrition
One serving equals 369 calories, 25g fat, 16g carbohydrate, 5g sugar, 155mg sodium, 8g fiber, and 23g protein.

It's the perfect time of the year to get out and take a walk. Make sure you wear good, comfortable shoes and dress accordingly. Just a 15 minute walk a day has great benefits and it keeps you on your toes...

Always check with your doctor before you start any walking, fitness or exercise program to rule out any and all limitations.
