What can a Health Coach do for you?
The COACH approach is different from the EXPERT approach. A medical doctor is an example of an expert who is consulted to Examine, X-ray (or perform diagnostic tests), Plan, Explain, Repeat and Tells and Sells (the course of action and then sells the approach and works to treat the condition.). There are many times when we need this EXPERT approach and it is often life-saving. Many medical professionals also use aspects of the COACH approach to meet the needs of specific situations.
The COACH approach is different. Coaching relies on Curiosity (being curious about clients and their behaviors), not making assumptions. The COACH approach uses Openness and is nonjudgemental; Coaching is respectful and inclusive. We express Appreciation for our clients growth, unique strengths, gifts and talents. We practice Compassion towards our clients and ourselves. And the H stands for Honesty. We are honest when answering questions, and if we don't know the answer we find out. I am in no way saying that the Expert approach is not compassionate or honest, but the approach to diagnose, treat and cure is very different than the approach to guide through self discovery, support and frequent, consistent communication.
We seek the Expert when there is a specific problem, see them once and try to follow the treatment plan until we see them the next time. If there is no problem, we may not see the expert for another year, or unless there is an illness.
A Coach works with clients and provides ongoing support for months at a time, checks in weekly helping clients to help themselves, building motivation, confidence, and engagement. We help clients find their own answers and focus on what is going well. It's a collaborative partnership.
If an expert has provided a treatment plan for you, often working with a Health Coach will support you with that plan and enhance it by offering other lifestyle medicine education.

Nutrition, Movement, Relationships, Stress Management, Sleep and other aspects that you maybe experiencing. I specialize in working with women over 40 who may be experiencing major shifts in their lives, beginning to show early signs of lifestyle diseases, experiencing peri-menopause or menopause, managing stress, caring for aging parents, losing loved ones, etc.
I offer 1-1 support, guidance and education with weekly Zoom calls and follow up email support. My passion is cooking and I love to provide tasty recipes to help clients increase the variety of healthy, clean, whole food into their eating plan. I can help ease you out of the "diet" mindset and into an understanding of nourishing your body in the way that is meant for you as a bio-individual!
