Dear REquipment reuse community -

This morning, please take 2 minutes to support level-funding for the REquipment DME and AT reuse program in Massachusetts.

Please visit tinyurl.com/REQadvocacy, enter your address, and edit or just send the letter asking your state representative to cosponsor House budget amendment 548.

Amendment 548 restores the $500K that is missing in the House Ways and Means Committee budget proposal for REquipment.

Without this amendment, REquipment will suffer an unsustainable 35.7% cut in FY27 (which begins July 1st).

Thank you to Mindy Domb, State Representative, for sponsoring the amendment. And thank you to its current cosponsors:

Rep Lindsay Sabadosa
Rep David Paul Linsky
Rep Angelo J. Puppolo, Jr.
Rep Hannah Kane
Rep Dennis C. Gallagher
Rep Natalie M. Higgins
Rep Samantha Montaño
Rep Manny Cruz
Rep Patricia A. Duffy
Rep Kimberly N. Ferguson
Rep Rob Consalvo
Rep Bruce J. Ayers
Rep James J. O'Day
Rep Kate Donaghue
Rep Tram T. Nguyen
Rep Lisa Field
Rep Adrian C. Madaro
Rep William F. MacGregor
Rep Aaron L. Saunders
Rep Mike Connolly

Together, we can keep valuable equipment out of the waste stream and distribute it to households across the state who need it.

REquipment's CEO honored with Innovator of the Day by the Not Impossible Foundation!

Innovator of the Day: Adriana Mallozzi

As CEO of REquipment Inc , Adriana Mallozzi is helping make sure more people across Massachusetts can access the durable medical equipment and assistive technology they need to live with greater independence.

Not Impossible first encountered Adriana through her invention of Puffin and the founding of Puffin Innovations — work shaped by her firsthand experience with the limitations of access and assistive capabilities built into modern technology. Born with cerebral palsy and drawing on her own experience living with spastic quadriplegia and using a power wheelchair, she helped create Puffin to support more independent access to phones, computers, and smart devices.

That same lived experience continues to inform her work today. Adriana is not only an innovator, but a persistent advocate whose leadership is helping more people move through everyday life with more agency, dignity, and possibility.

The Not Impossible Foundation is proud to have supported REquipment’s work through our sponsorship of Bob Hall’s REquipment Racers at the 2026 Boston Marathon .

The story Adriana is telling through her work is a powerful reminder that innovation is often strongest when it starts with someone who understands a barrier personally — and refuses to accept impossibility.

We crossed the finish line.

On behalf of the entire Bob Hall Legacy Fund team, thank you.

To our sponsors, our donors, and everyone who shared a post, told a friend, or simply followed along. You made this possible.

The work does not stop at the finish line. The Bob Hall Legacy Fund will continue supporting REquipment, Inc. in delivering mobility equipment to children, adults, and veterans across Massachusetts for years to come.

Congratulations to Bob Hall’s REquipment Racers and their devoted trainer, Coach Nikki Higgins, on an inspiring 130th Boston Marathon!

They made it. They each ran 26.2 miles, crested Heartbreak Hill, and collectively raised $160,211 (and counting) for REquipment—an accomplishment worthy of a marathon as challenging and iconic as Boston’s.

What an incredible way to honor Bob Hall and support independence and access in Massachusetts.

Wait—both Earth Day and Assistive Technology Awareness Day?

Sounds like REquipment Day in Massachusetts.

At REquipment, we help people access the devices they need to stay independent and fully participate in daily life. At the same time, we keep tons of valuable equipment out of landfills each year—refurbishing gently used devices and providing them at no cost to Massachusetts residents who need them.

Today is a reminder that supporting people and protecting the planet can go hand in hand.

Want to celebrate in a meaningful way?

Help sustain this work. Contact your state representative and ask them to cosponsor House Amendment 548 to prevent a 35.7% cut to the REquipment program budget in FY27.

It takes just two minutes to take action: tinyurl.com/REQadvocacy

Advocacy Alert!

Last Thursday, the House Ways and Means Committee released its state budget proposal for FY27. Unfortunately, their proposal falls short by $500,000 to level-fund the REquipment Durable Medical Equipment and Assistive Technology Reuse Program in Massachusetts.

We are asking for 2 mins of your time. Mindy Domb, State Representative, has filed Amendment 548 to include the necessary funding and the earmarking language. The only way for the amendment to stick, however, is if enough state reps hear from their constituents and become cosponsors.

If you are a resident of Massachusetts and care about REquipment surviving for another year, please visit tinyurl.com/REQadvocacy, enter your address, and send a message to your state representative. This tool is fast, easy, and effective. You can edit the auto-generated message or leave it alone. The important thing is that your state rep. hear from you!

Tell them why Massachusetts needs the REquipment Durable Medical Equipment and Assistive Technology Reuse Program.

REquipment cannot sustain a 35.7% cut.

Thank you for all that you do.

And if Mindy Domb is your state rep, please thank her for championing the REquipment program!

UPDATE (10 a.m.): We had to take down the green tent, but look for us in green neon t-shirts by Heartbreak Hill Running Company as a landmark. Bib numbers for our runners are corrected below. Track them on BAA app!
---------------------------------

Yayy! It's Marathon Day, and REquipment is giving away free t-shirts to honor the legacy of Bob Hall and show spirit for his (and our!) team.

Join us to cheer Bob Hall's REquipment Racers up Heartbreak Hill!

This is an amazing group of runners committed to raising money to get more equipment to Massachusetts residents with disabilities, seniors, veterans, and children. (Read about them below.)

When and where?

REquipment CEO Adriana Mallozzi, REquipment staff members, and volunteers from Northeastern University will be at the green tent at the crosswalk between Center Street and Commonwealth Avenue in Newton (use Heartbreak Hill Running Company as a landmark).

Sarah Wilkinson: "My goal is to contribute to [REquipment's] mission, ensuring that everyone can live with greater independence and dignity." (Bib #31606)

Estelle Chiang: "I am passionate about supporting individuals who face challenges in their daily lives. The Boston Marathon 2026 will also complete my 6th star world major." (Bib #31609)

Hilary Winocoor: "For my final World Major Marathon, I’m proud to be running Boston in support of REquipment." (Bib #31664)

Haley Davis: "Running for Team Bob Hall's REquipment Racers represents everything I believe sport and community can be - a force for empowerment, access, and independence." (Bib #31686)

David Matthews: "My goal is to raise awareness and funds to support [REquipment's] mission, ensuring that no one has to face daily challenges alone." (Bib #30095)

Christina Herrick: "For more than a decade, I’ve volunteered at a local therapeutic riding center where I’ve seen the transformative power of a supportive community." (Bib #30750)

Tim Lowell: "Your support doesn’t just get me across the finish line — it helps others gain mobility, independence, and access to their communities."

Today, we join so many in remembering Bob Hall, who passed away on April 12, 2026.

Bob’s impact extended far beyond the Boston Marathon. He helped redefine what independence and access could look like for people living with disabilities.

Through the Bob Hall Legacy Fund benefiting REquipment, his legacy continues supporting access to essential mobility and assistive technology equipment for individuals and families across Massachusetts.

We are grateful for his life, his leadership, and the path he created for so many.

Our Story

REquipment gives gently used durable medical equipment a second life helping someone else in need. With start-up funding in 2013 from the Carl and Ruth Shapiro Family Foundation, the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission, and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, REquipment was launched in December of 2013 to provide free refurbished medical devices to individuals and families in need of DME in Greater Boston. Thanks to our state legislators, REquipment received state funding to expand the program statewide in FY '16. In Spring '16, REquipment added two new reuse centers; Stavros Center for Independent Living in Amherst and United Cerebral Palsy of Berkshire County in Pittsfield. A “reuse” program, REquipment helps people obtain gently-used and refurbished durable medical equipment (DME) at no cost thanks to state and private funding. The project is funded by the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission To donate or receive DME, search our listings of available items at www.dmereuse.org.
