Pregnant people and providers are navigating a growing wave of misinformation about mental health treatment during pregnancy and postpartum—including confusion and fear surrounding commonly prescribed antidepressants and other common medications. Recent national debates and federal panels have drawn concern from medical experts for spreading incomplete or misleading information, potentially discouraging people from seeking care. At the same time, clinicians continue to emphasize that untreated depression during pregnancy and postpartum carries real risks for both parent and child, including preterm birth, relapse, and even maternal death.
In this environment, access to accurate, evidence-based information is critical. Supporting maternal mental health means standing with researchers, clinicians, and families who rely on science—not fear—to guide care and decision-making. It also means creating spaces where people can learn, ask questions, and connect with trusted experts.
That’s why NAMI Minnesota invites you to join us for Beyond the Baby Blues, a full-day conference on Tuesday, June 2, at the American Swedish Institute. Presented in partnership with Redleaf Center for Family Healing, this event brings together professionals, parents, and caregivers to explore education and treatment options for mood and anxiety disorders before, during, and after pregnancy.
With expert-led sessions, the $75 cost includes meals and 6 CEUs approved by the Minnesota Board of Social Work. Beyond the Baby Blues offers both practical knowledge and a meaningful way to support science-based care. Scholarship tickets are available to ensure accessibility for all. Attending isn’t just about learning—it’s about standing with a community committed to facts, compassionate care, and better outcomes for families across Minnesota.
