Yolo County Retired Peace Officers Association We welcome all retired Yolo County Law Enforcement Officers, Dispatchers, and front line Support Personnel.

LEO retirees from any agency, and who now reside in Yolo County, are also eligible for membership.

Deputy Fred M. Garcia, YCSO (Ret) of Grangeville, Idaho, formerly of Davis, California, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the Idaho State Veterans Home, in Lewiston, Idaho, following a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was 80 years old.

After graduating from Davis Senior High School in the early 1960s, Fred served in the US Army in Vietnam. He was hired by the Yolo County Sheriff's Office in the early to mid-1970s. There he worked a number of assignments, including: Detention, Patrol, Court Services (Transportation, Court Security and Bailiff); and he could be counted on to regularly volunteer for the Yolo County Fair Security Detail every year. Fred retired in 2004.

A Celebration of Life gathering in Davis is tentatively planned for sometime in the spring.

Larry H. Jorgensen, YCSO (Ret.) passed away peacefully at his residence in Esparto on Friday, December 5, 2025, following a lengthy illness. He was 86 years old. (Photo 1970)

Larry dedicated many years serving the residents of Yolo County, primarily as a resident deputy in the Esparto area. He also worked as a Deputy-Coroner for a length of time, and found time to serve as President of the Yolo County Deputy Sheriff's Association in the mid-80s. After retirement, "Jorgie" performed background investigations on potential employees at the Yolo Emergency Communications Agency (YECA)...now known as Yolo 911 Dispatch.

Plans for a Celebration of Life at a later date are pending at this time.

Congratulations, to Captain Stephen D. Guthrie, who is retiring from the Yolo County Sheriff's Office on December 19, 2025! During his 33-year law enforcement career, Captain Guthrie has worked for five Chiefs of Police: Russ Smith, Carey Sullivan, Dan Bellini, Luis Soler, and Derrek Kaff; and three Sheriffs: Bob Martinez, Bart Simpson, and Tom Lopez.

Captain Larry Cecchettini, YCSO (Ret.) passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 11, 2025, following a lengthy illness. He was 63 years old.

Larry started his career with the Yolo County Sheriff's Office as a Reserve Deputy and was hired full-time on November 6, 1988.

He worked a number of assignments during his 29+ year career at the Sheriff's Office including, but not limited to: Detention, Court Services, Bailiff, Patrol, Cops-For-Kids Program, arrest control instructor, impact weapon instructor, Investigations, Press Information Officer and Personnel. He retired on May 8, 2015.

A funeral service will held 11:00 AM, on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Lind Brothers Funeral Home, 4221 Manzanita Avenue, Carmichael, CA 95608. A viewing will be held at 10:00 AM prior to the funeral service.
