Shenandoah County Free Clinic was started by community leaders when they realized that too many people were going without health care because they couldn't afford it. A subsidiary, Shenandoah Dental Clinic, started in 2008 as means to help both uninsured and Medicaid patients with oral health. The Clinic has served thousands of people with medical and dental issues.

Severe weather began hitting parts of Virginia on Monday and is expected to continue through Wednesday or Thursday in some parts of the state as remnants from Ida arrive.
With a state of emergency in effect, Virginia will be able to deploy resources, including personnel and equipment, to help in the response to the storm and assist in the recovery efforts. In addition, local officials will be able to coordinate their own emergency response to the storm.

Mattie graduated from Broadway High School as a MTC in 2017 with her Dental Assisting certification. Mattie said she wanted to become a Dental Assistant to "help people achieve good oral hygiene and help them gain confidence in their smile!"
Mattie and her Mother just moved to Strasburg and in her free time, she enjoys lounging around with her dog, Leo, and LOVES putting puzzles together.

The Shenandoah Community Health Clinic is among 10 organizations in the nation to be awarded a $20,000 Access to Care grant toward the development of a new school-based clinic in Quicksburg! The funds came from HEALTHY SMILES, HEALTHY CHILDREN: The Foundation of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (HSHC), which supports providing all children, regardless of financial circumstances, with early and ongoing dental care. With the help of the Healthy Smiles Healthy Children Access to Care Grant, Shenandoah Community Health Clinic will open a new location on the southern campus of the Shenandoah County schools for children to receive medical, dental, and counseling services. The new school-based clinic, called Shenandoah South Wellness Center, will be located at Ashby Lee Elementary School in Quicksburg and begin services officially after Labor Day. It will serve all three schools on that campus. “The school system contacted our clinic last fall, concerned about the many children who weren’t getting all the health care they needed,” Murphy said. “We’re thrilled that just a year later we are able to pilot a program to bring more services right to some of the young people who need them.” About Healthy Children, Healthy Smiles: The Foundation of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry – Healthy Smiles, Healthy Children (HSHC) is the largest national dentist-led foundation dedicated to children’s oral health.
