What are you nourishing yourself with? πŸͺ΄ If you step back and take a look at all the parts of your life β€” do you notice any trends?

πŸ‘οΈ for example, are you addicted to feelings of stress & urgency? (Coffee, fast food, loud music, murder mysteries, gossip, drama, toxic relationship dynamics, avoidance of paperwork & big conversations, demanding jobs, staying busy, procrastinating?)

Not that all of those things are bad, but take note if you notice that you’re creating a specific type of physical condition for yourself that may conflict with the higher self-healing path you’re on.

These can be sub-conscious, meaning behaviors happening below the surface that you haven’t become aware of yet, or skills you haven’t realized you haven’t developed yet.

The good news is, this means there are limiting beliefs you can work on and new skills you can learn.

The key to healing is slowing down your life from 90mph to 25mph and beginning to pay attention to the thoughts you’re participating in and the way your body FEELS as you go about your day.

As you bring in tools to gain more self awareness, you might be surprised to discover you’ve been holding onto feelings and behaviors that have been keeping you stuck & manifesting the circumstances you’re trying to grow out of. ❀️

Dear Younger Me,

The awkward girl who pretended she wasn’t always a little sad. The one who felt like she never fit in. The one who tried so so hard to mask it by dressing to fit in perfectly with every scene.

The one who loved EVERYONE with absolutely no boundaries and whose self-resentment exploded into bursts of anger. That girl who could be sweet but was known to be kind of an as***le.

The girl who tried SO HARD to not be broken. But instead got trampled, taken advantage of, made bad decisions and attracted every single piece of proof on Earth that confirmed she was utterly beyond help.

Messy room. Messy car. Messy life. Messy heart. Messy soul.

Too angry, too anxious, too emotional, too compassionate, too desirous of affection, too much of an appetite, too much drinking, too much partying and certainly way way too much fun being had while sweeping all the pain under the rug.

You came from β€œbroken” people. They tried to heal before the world really learned about trauma healing and decided it was beyond their ability. For them, healing meant forgetting. Being a little depressed, very tired and succeeding by sacrificing mind & body in service of β€œthe way life is”…..that was your birthright.

Your mantras :
β€œWe are too busy to heal. Prepare ahead of time, follow all the rules and BE PERFECT or your failure is YOUR fault. There is only one way to be successful and it’s to stay busy. I figured it out on my own and now it’s your turn.”

Except the rules were dumb to you. You didn’t know what being perfect looked like. You didnt understand how youd ever be seen or heard clearly if you never stopped moving. Sweeping it under the rug felt like hiding a big dark secret.

You followed what you thought the rules were until it almost crushed you. Then you found a tiny corner of the world where you began to create peace, calm and safety. You paused and opened your mind to new evidence.

You discovered you’ve NEVER been broken and it radically changed the course of your life.

Girl, do you have any idea how proud I am and how much I love you? You have accomplished things you once believed weren’t possible for you.

All because you dared to trust yourself. ❀️

6 months from now, do you want to be stuck with the same problem set (that you’ve already had for way too long) ?

Or do you want to get your hands dirty and confront the parts of yourself that have been frozen in fear?

Sure, you’re deep in the middle of a situation that feels hopeless, but do you want to reach the end of your life and realize you put off climbing out of it for so long that you ran out of time?

How much more time are you going to allow your old outdated patterns to take from you? How can you gently thank them for keeping you safe and send them on their way?

As I pull back layers of pain, fear, stuck energy, shame and low self-esteem I realize that Im still here standing. I’m miles beyond where I was before and Im feeling the possibilities of life without all that weight,

I persisted and made it through, into the next version of myself. I can set new goals. I can finally plan ahead into my future rather than perpetually bracing for impact. I’m becoming who I want to be instead of who I HAVE TO be.

This is the journey I’m on. Holding all the parts of myself with grace and moving forward β€” from the life circumstances I couldn’t control into a life of joy I’ve intentionally created.

Florida trip photo dump! πŸ“ΈπŸŒ΄

This trip was so healing for me on many levels. .sensorylounge and the space held by the women who created it is a magical vortex of healing and I’m so honored to travel there help them bring their vision to life.

On this trip I was able to give my nervous system healthy new experiences (personally & professionally) that helped me see the places where I needed to align in a holistic sense.

This was very important because Covid in MA and my year of Zoom meetings had started to feel sooo isolating and I discovered I had needed healthy in-person dynamics again more than I realized.

For 5 or so years now I’ve been aiming for a life where I have the flexibility to work, accommodate our family’s healing & β€œworld school” J and this was a very successful experience in terms of deciding if this could work for us. (It also helps that we have an awesome + supportive family!)

Life was happening to me and I was a victim that just kept sitting there and taking it. Heres how I got out of it :​​​​​​​​

1. Make the mental leap that nothing is wrong with you. You weren't born broken. You aren't a victim. This is programming your ancestors have adopted to survive in stressful situations.​​​​​​​​

2. Become trauma aware. Learn what it actually feels like when your nervous system feels unsafe and what it needs to feel safe again. You'll start to see yourself and others differently. Regulated & aware vs. disregulated & unaware, etc. ​​​​​​​​

Are you using disassociation as a tool to heal... or an avoidance to escape? ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Are you convinced you should be living FAST when maybe your body is begging you to learn how to slow down so you can sit with your feelings & integrate your reality?​​​​​​​​

Your mind-body-spirit are connected. Healing one area can/will heal other areas of your life. It's all connected. Business + personal life too.​​​​​​​​

Many of us have rigid subconscious beliefs that there areβ€œright” and β€œwrong” ways to do things, but the experience of living can be way more nuanced than that.
β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €
I’ve noticed in my coaching clients and own personal experiences that it’s very common for those who had traumatic childhoods to have a glitch in their β€œnormal” radar.
β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €
This can be due to not being sure what β€œnormal” looks like, being corrected often by caregivers or a variety of reasons.
β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €
Getting your β€œnormal” wires crossed in childhood can cause high achieving perfectionism : β€œI have to be good at it all!” and/or analysis paralysis : β€œif I don’t do this or never complete it, I can avoid being criticized altogether.”
β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €
Maybe you aren’t broken and don’t need to be β€œmore” of anything. Maybe you don’t need to wait until everything is perfect.
β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €
Messy, imperfect action is always better than waiting for everything to be perfect. Perfection will never come. It’s an illusion that will keep you small forever.

I challenge you to think about how things would change for you if you picked one goal you’ve been putting off and took just one messy step forward. When you hit a wall β€”look at what kind of support or new skills you need.

You are a mirror for everyone you encounter. Likewise, each person you encounter reveals truths about you. πŸͺžβ€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹

I’m sure you’ve heard this saying before and I think it fits perfectly here : There is a different version of you that exists within the minds of everyone who has ever met you.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Examples of dynamics you may have encountered could be:​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
- correcting a loved one who’s struggling​​​​​​​​
- correcting a child who’s learning​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Whether you’ve been criticized or corrected or are the person correcting, it mirrors an identity that subconsciously shames a person for being a beginner. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
If the relationship is close, it creates an identity of a person who is a failure before they even started. If they have resources available to them for support or learning new skills they may be too ashamed to even reach out and acknowledge they’re β€œless than”.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Now assess : how healthy is it to spend lots of time around people who don’t see you in an empowering way? How healthy is it for others to spend time around you if youre having trouble seeing them in an empowering way?​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
This exercise is intended to help you realize that if you speak to a human of any age, be sure you are speaking a healthy version of them into existence. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
If you can’t, that’s a great indicator that it’s time to step back and do your own emotional/nervous system/spiritual work. Let that person or another regulated adult step in. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
It’s wonderful to love people and want the best for them, but self-care and compassion is kind of a β€œput on your own oxygen mask first” type of situation. Healing and learning should be dignified experiences and should never involve shame.​​​​​​​​

I used to feel like I was too much to handle. β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή I felt like barbed wire and it was hard to let anyone close to me.​​​​​​​​

At my lowest, furthest from self-love and awareness, I began to mourn who I was before. I believed the cocktail of meds I'd been given had taken my spark away forever and that I'd never get my gifts back. I felt cold and emotionally sterile, like I'd permanently forgotten how to connect with humans.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
I'd been through so much that for years I felt like when people who loved me would ask "How are you doing?" I would push them away with the truth. "My life is on fire and I'm too overwhelmed to think my way out of it." I was worried about this because often, it did happen. I was isolated in the shame of believing to my core no one could truly SEE me. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
At one point I was caregiver of a disabled veteran, working for myself from home, barred from many types of aid because we chose plant medicine instead of meds, full time breastfeeding, advocating for social change out of a survival NEED, attachment parenting & homeschooling. With no car.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
I had layers of reasons for others to perceive I was shifting my usual drama & chaos into a new mess. When I started doing what my intuition lead to me do to heal...it also felt like I became triggering to practically everyone around me who once identified with all the ways I had been showing up broken.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
When I bridged the gap from therapy (which never really worked for me) and discovered life coaching, that's when I was able to alchemize all my pain into empowerment.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Having conscious, self-aware women hold space for my highest potential for just over 2 years has launched me out of what I previously believed about myself and into my highest potential. ​​​​​​​​

What’s it going to take to be successful if you’re a brilliant creative, but you aren’t quite sure of yourself?​​​​​​​​

⭐️ Grit​​​​​​​​

⭐️ A sense of purpose​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
⭐️ Awareness of privilege​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
⭐️ Awareness of trauma​​​​​​​​

I’ve been lucky to spend lots of time with brilliant people beginning at a young age (namely, grad students and professors from where my mom worked for 20 years and I attended through grad school) ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
The point is, I’ve been around lots of interesting, unique and worldly folks from many different cultures. I’ve also advocated for plant medicine and worked with advocates, patients & academics focused on making the world a better place. I’ve also worked for years with coaches and healers focused on helping humans reach their potential. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
These are all things I’ve noticed as common denominators in creative, compassionate people who think outside the box.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
You must have the ⭐️ grit to fail when you try new things. You must learn to alchemize that failure into a β€œlesson” and heal your nervous system so you can swiftly learn & move on.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
You must have a ⭐️ sense of purpose. Rooting yourself in what you’re most passionate about will take you further than you can imagine. Find your β€œwhy” and center around it. It will be effortless to be genuine.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
To align your sense of purpose, assess your ⭐️ privilege. Do you have more / less than others? If you have more, how can you be more mindful of sharing your abundance and creating brave spaces for others? If you have less, can you call in support from allies or find more supportive spaces to thrive in?​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
⭐️ Awareness of trauma. When you can recognize patterns in self & others and relearn non-confrontational communication, you will begin to see the whole world differently.

When you can see people in their pain and see how they’re showing up in harmful ways, it can be difficult to meet them where they’re at. You want to help them by correcting them and showing them a healthier perspective.

You want them to take a logical leap to where you’re standing. It feels like your mission.

The problem is, people with traumas (most of us) often come from situations where their reality has been denied. Shaming them into seeing their thought process as β€œwrong” will trigger yet another trauma response for them and they will shut down.

Ive found it can be near impossible for someone to become curious and self aware enough to retain new information when they’re in a β€œfight or flight” defensive state.

Next time this happens, I invite you to explore what’s been triggered for you. Are you speaking with them to fully understand their experience and help them? Do you need to correct them so you feel satisfied and un-triggered? Our ego loves to create narratives, so compassionately sit with that.

Feel into how your unique empathy and the experience you’ve had leading you to your beliefs has become an advantage and a privilege in this moment.

Then I want you to try beginning with compassion and validation of the other person. Meet them where they’re at. Repeat back what you hear. Assume they’re coming at you with the mind of a child learning something new. Be a mirror to them of compassionate communication.

This can sound like:

β€œI’m hearing you sound very upset. I can’t imagine how that must feel, but I’d like to listen to your perspective so I can better understand.”

β€œIt sounds like a lot of feelings come up for you on this subject. I can tell you’re overwhelmed.”

A good rule of thumb is that people are unlikely to genuinely change their minds unless they are seeking help to do so.

How can you shift your energy if you feel it’s your purpose to shift our collective consciousness?

Focus on helping people who WANT to change. Consent and curiosity are key. For everyone else, be a healthy and compassionate mirror. It takes practice and boundaries.❀️

Ray testified anywhere he could be useful as a 100% disabled veteran and he worked on a program that currently gives 40% off to 100% disabled veterans at a range of dispensaries in MA.β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €

I hosted social & networking events we could consume πŸƒ at so he’d feel comfortable leaving the house and I volunteered for a nonprofit, hooking up patients in need with free medical cards in 4 states. β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €

We were 100% passion and purpose focused, but eventually it caught up with us and we had to pause on advocacy to work on our own health.β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €

We have slowly begun to volunteer our skills for causes we believe in and I’m happy to report we’ve stopped feeling pressured to change the world. Now we spend a healthy portion of our time building the necessary energy required to hold space for others.πŸ’œβ €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €

When I was living in my trauma I’d avoid challenges because I was overloaded and couldn’t handle them.β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €

This looks like ghosting people, having β€œimpossible tasks” that you just can’t do, taking other peoples unregulated emotions personally, going back to bad habits even though you know.better and of course…beating yourself up for all of the above.β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €

I’d subconsciously punish myself by treating my mind, body & physical space like crap and justify this by saying β€œIt’s okay. I’m disabled. This is my normal. Damaged goods. Why bother.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €
This is what we call a limiting belief. A lie we tell ourselves to stay comfortable in the misery we are used to. These happen when we experience difficult situations in our life that cause us to adapt to survive.β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €
β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €
Cuz humans are primally intelligent beings that avoid pain and seek pleasure. (Really sit with this concept for a few minutes, if you can.)β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €

Now that I’ve healed and integrated I’m still not perfect, but my old beliefs no longer have the same hold over me.β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €

Normal for the spectrum of human emotions, yes, but this is the dead of winter in New England and I've been diagnosed Major Depressive Disorder (Cyclical) since 2014.β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €

I remember exactly how it was written on my paperwork and I HATED it. Reading it took away any light I had left in my soul.β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €

I've managed to completely restructure my self-concept with coaching, cannabis, a tiny push from πŸ„, nutrition and honestly just a lot of grit.β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €

I've had to show up over 400 days in a row for the transformation I started in Fall of 2020. I didn't believe in myself then. BUT I KNEW it was my calling so I surrounded myself with people who did believe in me.β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €

By Spring 2021 I knew everything I needed to do to execute, but my nervous system didn't have the capacity to process the energy it would take to physically BE.β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €

When I'd try to talk all the wrong words would come out. I'd get faint and anxious. I'd start feeling sick the day before meetings and wouldn't be able to eat or sleep.β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €

Today I FEEL different in my body. Embodied. Walking the walk. Ready to BE and hold space.

For some people you’ll be β€œtoo much” or β€œnot enough”. For β€˜your people’ you’re perfect exactly as you are. ✨

Your beliefs of who you are and what you’re capable of are directly related to who you surround yourself with and how they perceive you.

Think of it this way. Within the mind of each person you know, you exist as a different version of yourself.

What versions are you allowing to be mirrored back to you on a consistent basis?

Are these versions created by people who can clearly see themselves? Are these old versions of you? Do these people seem to care more about your well-being or how it affects their reputation?

This doesn’t have to be personal, sometimes people in our inner circles are just at different places in their journey. Healing is a privilege that doesn’t come easily to everyone.

I challenge you to consider what you can gain by giving less stock to outdated versions of you and more energy to people who see you as the version you want to be.

It’s been 15 years since I was diagnosed ADHD and I’ve completely transformed my perspective on disordered brains.🧠

I had no idea what ADHD meant. No one ever fully explained. Immersed in college culture, I developed a vague understanding that it was a pseudo-diagnosis some people used to get prescriptions for speed.

(This version of me subconsciously believed I was having a hard time functioning because I was lazy!)

I had no evidence otherwise so I went on for years and years deeply struggling, chained to prescriptions and HATING so many things about myself.

Tragically β€œtoo much, not enough” and always just short of fulfilling my potential.

What it took me all this time to learn is that my brain isn’t broken, it’s just not what’s considered standard.

I have sensory sensitivities, I need certain kinds of structure to thrive, my sleep cycle is unique. I have food sensitivities & was malnourishing myself. I thought I had anger issues but HELLO being invisible to everyone including yourself makes anyone angry. The list goes on and on.

All of the things I once hated about myself were actually me showing up in my truth and not being clearly seen by people and professionals who genuinely meant well.

It’s taken me all this time to connect with MYSELF instead of believing I’m broken because people outside my brain think I should appear in certain ways.

Think of it like this:
Type A brain tells XYZ brain they’re broken, creating a disempowering dynamic for the XYZ brain and a confirming ego boost for A.. Regardless of A’s intentions, they are not superior to XYZ and do not need to help XYZ to be more like A because brains come in VARIANCES not disorders. You follow?

On my journey I’ve met many other self healers who’ve confirmed for me that our culture simply has it wrong when it comes to disorders + trauma.

Once I processed this I was able to learn new skills & even eliminate patterns that were once debilitating β€œsymptoms”.

If you are sick of feeling broken, like a burden and maybe even like an incapable adult baby 😩 β€” I’m here to help you gently walk yourself the heck out of there and shine like the brilliant WHOLE ENTIRE PERSON you are✨
