Trapped! This is how our Great Dane felt here! Easy for us to see he didn’t even need to jump to get out, but he was afraid.

Reminds me of a fly banging into a window trying to get out, even though there’s an open window 3’ away.

Sometimes we think we know what we need to do, we just need to try HARDER. (Good luck fly!)

Or, like for our dog, the solution just SEEMS impossible for us, regardless how many other people did it.

That’s how I used to feel about drinking. I’d read posts from others saying things like “if I could do it anyone can!” but instead of feeling ENCOURAGED I felt even more ALONE.

That’s why you’ll never see me post things like that. I believe anyone CAN change their relationship with alcohol, but it does require commitment and a willingness to be uncomfortable.

If you wish you didn’t drink as much or as often as you do, but you find yourself feeling trapped like our dog, I can DEFINITELY help make it easier for you. Coaching makes all the difference - just like the fly who can’t see the open window right nearby, we humans all have blind spots that we can’t see ourselves. That’s where coaching comes in. I bring my flashlight and help you find the easiest path FOR YOU. There are many paths to get where you want to go, but they aren’t all the best way FOR YOU.

In Denmark they say that when you’ve been sick it’s a good sign when you’re tired of being in bed.

What do you wake up thinking about?

This is your strength.

My top strength is Restoration. I wake up thinking about clients and how can I make their journey better for them? Do we need to tweak? Do we stay the course? How can I make this a top quality experience for them? Not ‘just another program’, but a truly transformative experience that grants them long lasting results.

We had tons of fun today diving deeper into our individual strengths from the Clifton assessment.

A common frustration people struggle with is that they have 1 drink and then want a lot more.

It’s not that your weak or a loser. It’s science folks.

Alcohol causes your brain to release dopamine. A lot of it.

You can’t use willpower to make dopamine not get released. That’s like using willpower to not have insulin released when you eat sugar.

Dopamine makes you want more, of whatever you were doing just before it was released into your system.

In order to moderate, not quit entirely, you need to latch on to what do you WANT.

Dopamine does get released when we do enjoyable things, like enjoy a great walk, good book or intimacy, the difference is with these natural activities it gets released in natural amounts. With artificial pleasures, like drinking, video games, po*******hy, gambling, it gets released in artificially high amounts.

The higher the dopamine, the more you want what you did just before it was released.

Interesting thing is that with everything that causes artificially high levels of dopamine to be released, someone somewhere is making a LOT of money.
