Xander Thomas Wade born 4-13-08

His life inspired us. Xander had half a heart at birth...surgeries, feeding tubes, hospital stays...his body never followed the rules in fact more often than not his body was known for throwing the rulebook right in our faces. He was later diagnosed with Allgrove 4A it is a 1 in a million diagnosis, yep you heard that right. But people don't pour $$ or support into a disease no one has...so, basically it would mean we had a name of an illness to shoot our nerf darts at, or if you are Xander you build villains out of lego and name them Capt Allgrove and throw legos at him. Xander would go on to become an Hon. Wylie Police Officer (a job he took very seriously!)
He was a friend to everyone he met. I'm not even kidding, he thanked nurses for setting IVs. Always a gentleman he would kiss a lady's hand and escort her to the door. Xander loved BIG. September 5, 2016
Xander having lived his whole life held his sister's hand and as she sang to him of how Good our Father is we walked him to Jesus.....
but life didn't stop there. Grief is far from easy, loving all the way to heaven everyday and carrying him with us are things we are still learning.

School starts soon...Xander's precious classmates, friends, playmates, bot buddies will be Seniors. This is his senior year.
How did we get here???

Milestones make me miss him more. This summer was filled with sweet moments with family. Cousins on the Applewhite side tower over me and mention Xander so sweetly. He would be 17 in the middle of all the fun I'm sure. The second oldest of all the sweet Wade cousin grand babies I'm more than certain he would hold their little hands, tell them great stories of dragons and how much Jesus loves them.

Big sister Eliana acts more like an adult than child. She plans for her future, and prays fiercely, her faith strong she takes on each challenge with such grace and hope. Her boyfriend Gavin makes us proud serving our country in the Army. He joined us for a few weeks recently while on leave. It is so fun watching them together. I'm sure Xander would give him a hard time, they would bond over movies, and great books. He would certainly approve of the gentleman Gavin is to her. Goodness knows Xander set the bar high when it came to treating her "like a princess".

Asher our inquisitive, creative, never meets a stranger 10yo...well he made the decision to follow in believers baptism this summer and asked his sister to baptize him....as a mom...that moment left me speechless. Can you just imagine the giggles from heaven as Xander told everyone there about his Eliana Wade and Asher!

So....time just keeps going. The skies never fail to give us a reminder to keep our eyes up and play I spy in the clouds.
Ryan and I pray fervently every single day for clarity on this journey. To walk humbly in faith, trusting Him to hold us when it hurts and help us laugh big like Jesus every day.

Love you all. 💚💙

September 5
How in the world did you cram a whole great big life into 8 small years? You took us on grand adventures in hospital rooms and front yards, finding dragons in the clouds. We learned to adjust and adapt from pretending with food cause you couldn't eat to snowball fights in the dining room cause your body couldn't handle the cold.
I watched you be a gentleman as your sister taught you to kiss the hands of ladies, and that you did winning the hearts of many. I watched you beam as you were made an officer, you were so very proud to be apart of our great Wylie PD.

8 whole beautiful years and in a blink it all just stopped....and we would never ever, ever be the same again.

Xander, we miss you every single day. Asher plays with your legos just like you wanted and Eliana is still filling our world with beautiful music as you always admired and said she would. You are right, they are awesome! We speak of you often, lobster stays close by, we see your laughter in the clouds, and the twinkle of your smile in all the blues and greens, and yes I promise there are still dance parties as you requested.

But today...we ache, he grieve, we miss you and we long for the day that we can be together again....today the sky is a little more grey, and everything feels a bit more heavy.
My goodness sweet boy what a blessing you are to us all. Your legacy is tremendous.

Your prayers for our family as we remember and grieve are so appreciated.

💚💙💚💙So very grateful.

16 years...happy heavenly birthday Xander.

16 years ago we embarked on an incredible journey, and you all came along. From Star wars to legos from dance parties, to watching the clouds.

Thank you for walking alongside us.
Today is his birthday....16 years of loving our Xander.

So have a dance party in your kitchen, tell someone you love them MOST, eat a slice of pizza, and see all the dragons in the clouds.
Live your whole lives....live every single minute of it, and hold to hope that God is in all things and you are oh so dearly loved. "To the moon and out!"

A few weeks ago we had the honor of being invited to attend the Wylie PD banquet. It was a precious night among some of our all time favorite heroes.
I spoke on the profound positive impact they have on our community and I sincerely hope they each felt dearly loved and appreciated as I fear my words just weren't enough.
They then announced that the Wylie Police Assoc has started the Xander Wade Memorial Scholarship and presented to Eliana as the inaugural recipient.
We were so honored.
Truly Honored.

Our family has been donating for a while now funds to start a scholarship and we are working to move all funds to this Memorial Scholarship in Xander's honor. (More details on this to come)

The grief changes....it ebbs and flows....in the clouds are his giggles, blues and greens, dance parties and oh so many memories. As big moments happen, graduation, birthdays, time just ticking on...but our hearts miss him Every.Single.Day.

He would have loved this night and I am so excited to share it with you.

We love all our Xander Fans....dearly.

I can't say I ever look forward to Sept 5th it creeps up each year with the turning of the seasons. I have struggled with what to do with it and this year on Sunday morning....during worship with my family the Lord pressed upon my heart as we sang a song of Victory....the victory He has over the grave, and that we have in Him. The word kept swimming in my mind flooding out anything else until all that resounded was "victory".

Victory

Then my heart landed on this scripture from 1 Corinthians 15:55
"Oh death where is your sting."
So I stood there singing of victory with this single line in my mind. Oh death where is your sting?

Xander lived big...he loved everyone and I do mean everyone. To meet him was to be loved by him. He had the best laugh and the softest heart.
But....
His body gave him tremendous horrific amounts of pain. He knew suffering and took his comfort in knowing that Jesus knew suffering too. Somehow he packed a lifetime into 8 years and 5 months.

Then he died....

Victory

No more picc line
No more IVs
No more catheters
No more pokes
No more nerve pain
No more oxygen
No more denial of food
No more fighting for breath
No more fear
No more
6 years ago Xander won and claimed the greatest victory of all. He stepped out of a broken body and into a victorious place where he knows the victory in Jesus.

Does that mean this momma heart hurts less? Oh friend not a bit....but it is such a comfort and almost sense of pride to think of my son winning his race. Like any parent's pride in their children, my baby finished his race and he won yall....He won 1st place! He won his race and I get to be the proud Momma who keeps cheering his brother and sister on in their races, and his daddy and aunts and uncles and cousins on their races. Believing hoping praying we will all know that moment of victory.

Oh Victory in Jesus, my savior forever.

Xander sweet boy I miss you something fierce. I am just so stinking proud of you!! You won!! We are going to run our races big with bold love for Jesus and will see you at the finish line for some chocolate cake and what is no doubt the biggest dance party ever.
To the moon and out- love Momma

Father's often carry their children.
Just this week Ryan carried Asher to bed.

When Xander's pain became too severe he would ask that Ryan carry him, but he would say, "can I hold you?"
As we began to talk more about those last days Xander asked many questions. One day he asked what it would feel like to die. A friend at the time sitting close by likened it to being carried from one room to another while asleep. This was familiar and peaceful and the thought of being present here and peacefully moved to heaven was cherished, Xander would even say, "but I can hold Daddy!"

After Xander died Ryan asked to carry him out. So, the nurses and I got Xander ready, wrapped him in a Ninja Turtles blanket, and my sweet husband, my most precious friend, Daddy to 3 amazing children, this precious daddy picked him up and carried him out of our home one last time. Days later he would lift his casket and carry him to his final resting place.
You can call a man like that many things....but in our home we call him a superhero. Being a father to children in heaven truly is a precious albeit gut-wrenching walk. If you know a bereaved father reach out to them, pray for them...I assure you they are trying to carry their families all and their broken hearts need respite too.
