We’ve been busy lately so we’re grateful to find time to head to with friends to spread the to those incarcerated here.

I met Keshon at Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center when he was 17 and have remained in contact with him during his incarceration. It's been 7 years now.

He is still on fire for God and is staying strong in spite of all the things he has seen. During our visit, he said a LOT of wise things. Growing up young he came from a good family. Not without its own struggles. But he said as soon as he was out that front door, he was outnumbered. ALL our kids are outnumbered by the evil that prowls like a lion, waiting to devour them. The most difficult place he said was in school. We'd like to believe that it's a safe place, that all kids come from good homes, that the teachers have our kids best interest at heart. But, for 7-8 hours a day, they are outnumbered too.

We started Lucky Dirt Co as a means to share what we have been given with others that are not fortunate. Every purchase gives back to court-involved youth so they can stay strong.

It's been quite a while since we've returned to Cook County JTDC.

The dialogue our country is having around trauma healing is making its presence known in these dark places. We've been touched by these fatherless boys' lives, which is why we're doing our part to make the world just a little bit better.

Buy popcorn, and help us give these kids purpose!

We also help other farmers sort specialty grains. These mung beans will be used whole or as sprouts for soups, curries, savory pancakes, and desserts or turned into

In addition to this old we also have an optical sorter, a gravity table and aspirator/clearner.

If you have smaller quantities of grains that the larger places can't handle, DM us if you're interested in having us help.

We love Kline Creek Farm and what they do to educate people on where our food comes from. It gets harder with every generation though as many don't have any reference for manual labor.

"It seems that popcorn is losing its popularity among the masses of the people. One explanation of this fact is that we are getting farther away from the farm. As we drift away from the farm we escape from its good influences. We lose our love for the things which on the farm were our greatest delights... For certainly popcorn is a great delicacy, one of the finest of confections."

The author of this article had no need to worry- popcorn remained well loved in Chicago thanks to Cracker Jack and other push-cart vendors of popcorn in the City, as well as a resurgence of importance during the Great Depression and as a beloved snack in movie theaters.

Here at Kline Creek Farm, we carry on the tradition of Illinois farmers loving popcorn. For two days only, you'll get to try popcorn we're making on our wood-burning stove!
🍿Come out Saturday October 5 or 12 for our Pop Pop Popcorn program- Demonstrations begin at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2:30 p.m in the Summer Kitchen- but feel free to "pop" in any time between 10:30-12 or 1-3.

Homecoming night and concessions were about to run out of ! 🍿

At Lucky Dirt Co we always say luck is where preparation meets opportunity. Our founder always has our popcorn stashed at his house and was able to save the day. 😆
