I love spring! There is something so life giving about watching the world wake up again after the long winter. I was peeking out of my living room window the other day and I spied this beauty. If you're not familiar with comfrey let me take a minute and introduce you!

Comfrey is a favorite herb in many apothecaries, and for good reason. Both the leaves and roots are used medicinally. They contain the compound allantoin. Allantoin supports the body’s ability to repair tissue. This makes comfrey an excellent choice for bumps, bruises, sprains, and joint issues.

Due to some recent studies (surrounded by a lot of controversy) comfrey is not recommended for internal consumption. I love to use this herb in poultices (like when I rolled my ankle last fall 🤦🏼‍♀️) or to infuse oils and create balms and salves.

Don't let sickness get you down! There are a lot of cases of the flu so I wanted to share a simple home remedy for when you're feeling those symptoms come on.

Flu bomb recipe:
1/2 cup warm water
Juice of 1 lemon
1 garlic clove (peeled)
1 inch chunk fresh ginger
1 tbsp raw honey
1 tsp turmeric powder
Pinch of black paper or
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, we omit for the kids!)

Add all ingredients to a blender and mix until fully pureed. Drink immediately. You can drink this 2-3 times a day for the first day and as needed after that. Remember that this is medicine! It's not the tastiest treat you've ever had, but it will help boost that immune system so you can go back to enjoying the holidays! Bottoms up and Merry Christmas!
