👋🏻Get to Know Us👋🏽

In wrapping up our "Get to Know Us" series, Day 9 contains an honorable mention - Mr. Aaron Boggs, LPC.

Though Aaron is not employed by or directly affiliated with Path to Peace Counseling Services, he currently serves as clinical supervisor for our three resident therapists, making a huge part of our mission impossible without him!

Aaron owns and operates his own therapy practice in Harrisonburg, VA called Dig Counseling Services. He has made it his life's mission to help others get through the most challenging times imaginable.

Aaron obtained his master's degree from James Madison University prior to obtainin his LPC. Over the last fifteen years, he has worked with children with behavioral problems, dysfunctional families, and couples whose relationship fell apart. He has worked with homeless adults with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, university students overwhelmed with anxiety about their assignments, and professionals overwhelmed with the world around them. He currently specializes in OCD, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, and relationship issues utilizing a variety of approaches including CBT, ACT, ERP, and EMDR.

On a personal note, Aaron is married with three children growing up quickly before his eyes and becoming amazing people. He spends much of his free time with them. He and his wife enjoy entertaining and playing nerdy board games with their friends, and have a Yorkie named Pippin (from Lord of the Rings).

Another major part of his life is running and other exercise. He states, "I run to stay physically and mentally healthy and make sure I connect with the world outside of my home. We only get one body and taking care of it can greatly improve our mental health as well."

👋🏼Get to Know Us series👋🏽

Day 8 of our "Get to Know Us" series, we are continuing with our clinicians- introducing Rachel George, LPC-resident. In a recent collaboration with our colleague, Rachel, she decided to join the PTPCS family while seeing clients from her office in Harrisonburg, VA.

Rachel graduated with her Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2025 from Eastern Mennonite University. Before becoming a therapist, Rachel spent four years teaching middle school language arts and two years working in domestic and sexual violence prevention. These experiences helped shape her perspective and deepened her passion for supporting people through difficult experiences and life transitions.

Rachel believes that mental health is just as important as physical health. Just like you exercise muscles at the gym, therapy helps you strengthen and work through your emotions. She also loves the ripple effect of mental health care—when individuals become healthier and happier, it helps create stronger and more connected communities.

In the therapy room, Rachel tends to gravitate toward person-centered and interpersonal processing approaches. She especially enjoys psychodynamic work, exploring deeper patterns and experiences when clients are open to diving into that process.

Rachel enjoys working with a variety of clients and doesn’t necessarily have a favorite population (though she jokes that couples therapy isn’t her thing!). She especially enjoys working with kids, college-aged/young adults, and older adults, appreciating the unique perspectives and challenges each stage of life brings.

Outside of work, Rachel loves gardening, fishing, playing music, and spending time with her three dogs. 🌱🎣🎶🐾

Day 7 of our “Get to Know Us” series continues with one of our clinicians — introducing Jacob Somers, MS, LPC-Resident!

Jacob is one half of the husband-wife co-founding duo of Path to Peace Counseling Services and serves as Executive Director of the PTPCS nonprofit. He is also currently our only male therapist! Jacob has been working in the mental health field for 4 years, bringing a diverse background that includes nonprofit management, special education, and community-based services.

He holds an M.S. in Counselor Education from Radford University, and his path into mental health has been anything but linear — which is exactly what makes it meaningful. He has worked in special education, substitute teaching, case management at a children’s home, and spent over two years in substance abuse counseling. Each role reflects his lifelong commitment to nonprofit service and caring for others.

Jacob especially enjoys working with couples, families, and teens. Whether you’re navigating relationship conflict, struggling with communication, adjusting to a major life transition, or working through family dynamics, you’re in the right place. He also has a soft spot for teens facing behavioral challenges and individuals dealing with substance use.

His therapeutic approach is integrative and tailored to each client’s needs. He utilizes Gottman Method techniques for relationships and communication, Emotionally-Focused Therapy to explore and process emotions, and skills from CBT and DBT to help shift unhelpful thought patterns and build practical coping tools. His goal is always to meet you where you are. And fair warning — he has a slight analogy addiction, so expect plenty of “It’s kind of like…” moments to help make complex emotions easier to understand.

When he’s not in session, you’ll likely find Jacob snowboarding or exploring a trail outdoors.

Day 6 of our "Get to Know Us" series, we are continuing with our clinicians- introducing Tabitha Somers, CSAC, LPC-resident.

Tabitha is half of the husband-wife co-founding duo of the Path to Peace Counseling Services nonprofit. She serves as secretary on the board of directors and is one of our dedicated and down-to-earth therapists! Tabitha has been working in the mental health field for 7 years, bringing both clinical expertise and real-life perspective into the therapy room.

Much of Tabitha’s career has been spent in outpatient addiction treatment, where she provided counseling, case management, and care coordination before transitioning fully into outpatient therapy.

Tabitha works with adolescents (13+), couples, and adults of all ages. Her specialty areas include addiction & recovery, life transitions, trauma, self-esteem, relationship concerns, and stress management. No matter what brings someone to therapy, she believes in collaborating closely with clients to find the best path toward meaningful and lasting change.

Her therapeutic style is person-centered and strengths-based, drawing from approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, Somatic Therapy, and Narrative Therapy, depending on each client’s unique needs. Tabitha creates a warm, laid-back space where the pressure is off and authenticity is welcome — she strives to be her genuine self both in and out of the therapy room.

Outside of work, Tabitha is busy wrangling her four children, three dogs, and various other critters! 🐾 She loves creative arts like crochet, crafting, writing, and coloring. She enjoys the sun-shiney months where she can be found soaking up sunshine, cheering at her kids’ sporting events, and spending quality time with her wonderful husband and family.

👋🏼Get to Know Us series👋🏽

Day 5 of our "Get to Know Us" series, we are continuing with our clinicians- introducing Teri Fox, LPC.

Teri is a part-time, licensed therapist offering some afternoon availability. Teri has been working in the mental health field for 11 years, bringing experience, heart, and a deep understanding of people across the lifespan.

She graduated from Lindsey Wilson College in 2017 and began her career providing therapeutic day treatment in elementary and middle schools. From there, she expanded her work into intensive in-home services and outpatient counseling, supporting individuals and families through a wide range of challenges.

Teri loves working with children, adolescents, teens, and adults, and she has a special passion for helping people navigate life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, and pregnancy (pre- and postpartum).

Her approach to therapy is sensitive, compassionate, and thoughtfully challenging — with a dash of humor. She draws from cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered, solution-focused, and psychodynamic perspectives. Teri enjoys helping clients uncover the root causes behind their feelings while also providing practical tools they can use outside of sessions to create lasting change.

When she’s not in the therapy room, Teri is proudly a plant lady 🌱 — she believes every room should have at least three plants! She recharges by spending time with her family, going on walks, and connecting with friends.

👋🏼Get to Know Us series👋🏽

This week we are focusing on making connections, and what better way than allowing our followers, supporters, and affiliates to get to know the folks behind the scenes of Path to Peace Counseling Services. We only function because of our dedicated group of board of directors and clinical staff that pour their hearts, energy, and time into the administration and operations of the mission.

Day 4 of our series, we are kicking off our clinicians with Paige Stewart, LPC.

Paige is a part-time, licensed therapist to recently join the team at Path to Peace Counseling Services. She has been in the mental health field for 6 years and brings a wealth of experience across a variety of settings. She began her career in a TBI group home, then worked in a psychiatric hospital, and during and after earning her MS from Radford University in 2023, she provided school-based case management and counseling.

Paige has a special passion for working with adolescents, spending nearly 5 years in a middle school and states that she loved every minute. She thrives helping teens navigate identity development, life transitions, anxiety, and self-esteem, tailoring her approach to each client’s unique needs. Her therapy style is rooted in Person-Centered Therapy, with influences from Adlerian, Reality, and CBT approaches.

When Paige isn’t supporting her clients, she’s a serial crafter with at least three projects going at once! Currently, she’s juggling knitting, watercolor painting, and learning to ride a motorcycle. 🏍 She also has hobbies on hiatus like fishing, bread making, sewing, book binding, cross stitch, linocut, and crochet—though she hopes to revisit them soon!

👋🏻Get to Know Us series👋🏽

Day 2 of out get to know us series is the vice-president of our board of directors, Jennifer Johnson.

Jennifer brings over 27 years of professional experience as a licensed hairstylist and color specialist, along with leadership and administrative operations experience across multiple industries. Throughout her career, she has worked in high-efficiency environments that demand strong organization, clear communication, adaptability, and thoughtful problem-solving. In addition to her professional background, she serves as a recovery coach, providing one-on-one coaching and structured support for individuals navigating substance recovery, personal growth, and life stabilization.

Mental health care matters deeply to Jennifer because she has personally experienced the weight of untreated trauma as well as the life-changing impact of receiving help. She understands the isolation that can come with struggling silently—and the courage it takes to reach out for support. She believes seeking counseling should never feel embarrassing or shameful, especially when ethical, clinically sound, and compassionate care is available. She states, "I’ve lived the struggle. I’ve lived the healing. Don’t fight your battle alone.”

Jennifer chose to serve with Path to Peace Counseling Services because of its commitment to accessible, stigma-free mental health care grounded in professional standards. She values the organization’s ability to bridge evidence-informed clinical counseling with community-based support and accountability. For her, integrity matters!

She is especially drawn to nonprofit work because impact outweighs profit, and the focus remains on strengthening individuals and communities. Jennifer is motivated by purpose and is committed to contributing to sustainable pathways for healing and stability.

On a personal note, she’s fueled more by Dr Pepper than coffee and enjoys creative expression—especially designing apparel that carries messages of resilience and transformation.

So, without further to do, let's kick off the week with the president of our board of directors, Chase Arnold.

Chase has been in the music ministry for 12 years. For the past 3 years he has been serving as the Minister of Music at Legacy Church, in Wytheville, VA. Prior, he spent 5 years as a landscape and lawn care professional, leading a crew, training new hires, and facilitating schedules.
He states, "The mental health care field has a special place in my heart. Not only has learning mental health care changed my life, I’ve seen it completely change and transform the lives of those closest to me."
When asked why he decided to take this postion at our humble nonprofit, he stated, "For this reason, when I got the opportunity to work for this nonprofit, I absolutely could not turn it down. This is a phenomenal team to work with and I know that everyone is doing everything they can to bring health and healing to the lives of this community."
At the heart of Chase is a love for music, which he describes as a more of an obsession than a hobby. He also loves solving Rubik’s cubes and reports that he has collection of them that he's spent too much on as he pursues attempting faster solve times.

🤔Self-Reflection Saturday🤔

Use Saturdays to pause, check in with yourself, and reflect on your mental and emotional well-being. Reflection doesn’t have to be complicated — it can be as simple as asking yourself:

💭 What emotion did I feel most this week?
💭 What challenge did I navigate successfully?
💭 What is one thing I want to focus on next week for my growth?

Self-reflection helps you gain clarity, build resilience, and stay connected to your values. Even a few quiet minutes can make a big difference.
