I am looking to help those with oxygen therapy (OT) or supplemental oxygen, find options to get out of the “trapped” feeling of being stuck at home literally tied to the concentrator.

Air quality, for most areas, is down and moving to dangerous.
Stay indoors if you can. Be proactive and practice breathing exercises often!

When radon exposure and smoking overlap, the risk of developing lung cancer becomes even greater. To better understand why this combination is so dangerous, learn more about how lung cancer develops and how radon and smoking damage the lungs separately and together at www.lung.org/blog/radon-smoking-synergy.

💙 Crown Princess Mette‑Marit raises awareness of serious lung disease🫁

Crown Princess Mette‑Marit of Norway has bravely shared that her progressive lung fibrosis has advanced, and her doctors are now preparing her for the possibility of a lung transplant. Lung fibrosis is part of a broader group of diseases known as interstitial lung diseases (ILDs), which in some cases can lead to pulmonary hypertension (PH‑ILD), significantly worsening symptoms and prognosis.

By speaking publicly, the Crown Princess is helping to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and encourage early diagnosis and care for patients with rare and life‑impacting lung conditions.

In recent years, research into treatments for lung fibrosis and PH‑ILD has intensified. Several clinical trials are exploring therapies aimed at slowing disease progression, improving symptoms, and enhancing quality of life. Despite these advances, for some patients with advanced disease, medical treatments may not be sufficient or may not become available in time, leaving lung transplantation as the only viable option. This is a major, life-changing procedure, reserved for carefully selected patients and performed in highly specialised centres.

We extend our sincere respect and best wishes to Crown Princess Mette‑Marit and her family as she faces a demanding period ahead. Her story is a powerful reminder of why continued investment in research, patient support, and international collaboration in lung disease and pulmonary hypertension remains so vital.

Working on a website is not my forté! I think it’s time to call in for reinforcements. I hadn’t realized that something was shut off on the site (the “Metaverse” is always changing) and I missed it. I have no idea how long it has been off but it’s back on!! I am always learning but as technology moves and grows so fast, it’s hard to keep up with all of the new options and changes. Suffice it to say if there have been any attempts to connect, my apologies!! I am still here.

Anyone with lungs can get lung cancer. Dr. Bryant Lin—a non-smoker, doctor and researcher—was diagnosed with stage IV at 50. Instead of giving up, he turned his diagnosis into a mission to educate and inspire others.

I recently saw a short video of Patrick Dempsey talking about care givers. He highlighted the need to make sure you take care of yourself too (with his mom going through treatments for cancer and all that entails), but the same can be said of other health issues like COPD.

I will try to get it over here as it is valid!
Take care all! You can’t pour energy from an empty cup, so make sure you take care of yourself too. 🫂

CAREGIVERS, reminder as it is the time of year of dry weather… nasal spray (saline mist) -NOT Vaseline can help with dry nose.
Humidifiers too.
If ears are getting tender, wrapping the cannulas with soft cloth or gauze can help.

For stuffy nose, there is a Vicks (or generic) menthol “tube” that you put in your nostril and inhale… who’s is also helpful.

Don’t forget to switch out the cannulas tubes every other week! Bacteria builds up and can cause illness.

Often I hear this.
A short time span and then people live many years later.
We need more resources invested in research and treatment!!

Ted Koppel and his wife, Grace Anne Dorney Koppel — who was told she only had a few years left to live after her 2001 COPD diagnosis — work to save lives by providing access to pulmonary rehab
