Lots of uncertainty in the months to follow with changes in who may qualify for state sponsored healthcare, and in general insurance premiums in Maine estimated to rise over 20%. Regardless of your insurance situation, working with a direct care practice ensures continuity and access during these times of unprecedented demand for primary care services.

We took three cases to health policy experts. They couldn't provide answers on individual eligibility, but rather gave a general overview of the new rules.

Hope everyone is having a great summer! Things have been busy at the clinic onboarding patients, diving into symptoms and many health topics! Its great to be able to spend this much time with my patients and share the value of direct care. More updates to come this fall!

Frequently Asked Questions from This Past Week:

1) If I enroll, can I be seen before August?
— Absolutely! Upon joining, my patients can be seen as soon as 1-2 days after enrollment, a significant improvement over the typical 4-month wait time!

2) Will I always be seen by you, or are there other doctors in the practice?
— I am the sole practitioner. I personally see patients, answer phone calls, and coordinate follow-up visits, ensuring consistent and personalized care. A patient recently shared that our phone conversation was the first time they had ever spoken directly with a doctor in their 30 years as a patient in various practices over the years!

3) Can I text you with questions?
— anytime! Patients can text me asking for a call, or for medical advice. For complex questions I work with Akute Health, which is a great electronic health record with a patient portal, and patients can send messages securely to me there!

4) Why aren’t you charging more?
—- typical concierge fees range from $4–5000 yearly or more, and then they will continue to bill your insurance for all care. For me, monthly memberships coming in at around $100 with everything included allows me to connect with more patients and still keep things feeling very personalized at a fraction of the panel size typical on primary care. This is truly concierge level care at a fraction of the price!
