Today is a day for a double celebration.

Many of you know how much I’ve always loved Barbaro. He was an incredible horse—full of drive, fire, and heart. I followed his career closely and was captivated by his determination and presence. The day he won the Kentucky Derby, I was less than an hour away at a national alpaca show. Horses had always been my passion, and Barbaro helped keep that dream alive. Though his story ended tragically, his impact never faded. He was born 23 years ago today.

Fast forward to 2024, when we bred Tachi. It was a hectic season, but we managed to get her bred on the morning of Kentucky Derby Day. That afternoon, after bringing her home, we watched the race—where Mystik Dan, a grandson of Colonel John, won at 18-1 odds. Since Tachi is a Colonel John daughter, that made it even more exciting for us.

Then, in the early hours of April 29, 2025, Sassy was born—a beautiful, long-legged, strong filly. Conceived on Derby Day and born on Barbaro’s birthday (and a filly, no less!), it all came together into a story I’ll always love.

Now a year old, Sassy has grown into a gorgeous, sweet, and level-headed filly. Already standing at 15 hands, she’s going to be a big, scopey mare, and I can’t wait to see how she continues to develop.

Well, it's official. I think I have a thing for dark bays. 🫣😂
How lucky am I that I have a broodmare that throws them??

While we don't carry any Frosted blood on our farm, I have always had an appreciation for this stallion. So sad he is gone so soon. Absolutely incredible horse! Our hearts are with his connections. 💔

Big thank you to EquiTecs for getting my tape to me so quickly!! The demand and schedule for this season has been super heavy, and this tape has been a huge asset to my massage practice for over 6 years!!
April is booked solid and the months following are close to it. So thankful for such incredible clients and horses!!

Absolutely thrilled to be part of the Bays Unlimited team. Such an incredible group of talented horses, riders, and trainer. First show of the season for them, and they absolutely rocked it!! So happy for them!! ❤️

Happiest of birthdays to this guy. Officially 6 years old today! He may not be the most financially achieved horse but to have him as our first homebred, and to actually accomplish things on the track will always make him something great in our eyes!!

Popping on real quick to see how everyone is doing!! I have been out of the office since Wednesday and the time off has been absolutely glorious. 80° plus, sunshine, blue skies, and tons of stuff going on. So blessed to be able to do things like this and can't wait to see what the future holds for us down here in sunny FL!
I will be back in the office March 2nd and returning everyone's calls, texts and emails. I hadn't posted a notice saying I was going to be out, but thinking I should have!

I just can't hate these really nice days in the PNW. The horses live for them, and absolutely romp the pastures because they feel so good. It dries out our mud bogs we are notorious for here in WA on horse properties, and the day light lasts just a little longer now. IYKYK.
But this view. This view is just something I don't think you can ever really get over!!

Looking handsome and like a million dollars in the dead of winter. 😂 To be very fair, we are having a very mild, uncomplicated winter this year with nearly two weeks of no rain and 40s/50s during the day and 20s at night. He has decided an abcess was a necessity, because, horses. But, we have worked out of that and are now waiting for our next move to the training barn!
This guy is an absolute catch, and has one heck of a work ethic. Can't wait to get 90 days on him and watch him go to a great home where he can thrive and make someone super happy!
