Active dilatation

The cɛrvix is now completely effaced, has the shape of a ring and is now beginning to increase in diameter. The contractions become more frequent and stronger, causing the cervix to open.

The collagen fibers that form it are rearranged, so that their resistance decreases drastically and this facilitates dilatation up to 10 cm. It should be noted that in multiparous women, effacement of the cervix and dilatation of the cɛrvix occur simultaneously. However, in first-time prɛgnant women, there are two different phases: first the effacement takes place and then the dilatation.

At this time, the cɛrvix also changes position: it moves from being in a posterior position to being centered, so as to facilitate the baby's exit.

Once dilation is complete and the cɛrvix is effaced, the va**na and uterus form a single duct and delivery will take place.

DOES a 7 WEEK FETUS HAVE a BRAIN?

Seven weeks into pregnancy, or five weeks after conception, your baby's brain and face are growing. Depressions that will give rise to nostrils become visible. The start of the eyes' retinas form. Lower limb buds appear that will become legs.

FETAL DEVELOPMENT

Fetal development progresses through three main prenatal stages:

💜the Germinal Stage (conception to ~2 weeks, focusing on cell division and impl@ntation as a blastocyst),

💜the Embryonic Stage (~3 to 8 weeks, crucial for organ and major structure formation),

💜and the Fetal Stage (week 9 until birth, characterized by rapid growth, organ maturation, and physical development).

🍂These stages involve significant changes, from a single cell to a fully formed baby, with key milestones like heartbeats, limb buds, and sensory development occurring throughout.

HOW MANY HOURS DOES IT TAKE SP£RM TO F£RTILIZE AN EGG ?

24 hours

💟Within 24 hours of 0vulation: Sp£rm f£rtilizes an egg (conception occurs).

💟 About six days after f£rtilization: The fertilized egg implants into your uterine lining.

💟Around day 21: If conception and implantation occurred during this menstrual cycle, you're pregnant.

WHAT HAPPENS 2 DAYS AFTER SP£RM MEETS EGG?

After f£rtilisation, the egg and sp£rm very quickly merge and divide to become an embryo and chemicals are released to stop other sp£rm from entering. Over the next four or five days the f£rtilised egg continues to divide and to travel towards the ut£rus.

KEY STAGES OF HUMAN PROCRE@TION:

💜Gametogenesis (Gamete Formation): Males produce speπm in the te$tes, and females produce ova (eggs) in the ov@ries.

🤎Ins£mination: Sp£rm is transferred into the female reproductive tract, often through s£xual int£rcourse.

❤️F£rtilization: A sp£rm fuses with an egg, usually in the fallopian tube, forming a single cell called a zygote, which contains genetic material from both parents.

🧡Zygote Development & Impl@ntation: The zygote divides and develops into a blastocyst, which then attaches to the ut£rine wall (impl@ntation).

💚Embryonic & Fetal Development (Gestation): The implanted embryo grows and develops into a fetus within the uteπus.

🩷Parturition (Childbirth): The baby is delivered from the mother's body.

HUMAN PROCREATION

Human pr0creation is a s£xual process involving the fusion of male sp£rm and female egg (o**m) to form a zygote, which develops into an embryo, then a f£tus within the female's ut£rus, culminating in childbirth (parturition).

This journey, occurring after pubeπty, includes gamete form@tion (sp£rm & egg), ins£mination, f£rtilization (internal), impl@ntation, embryonic development, and biπth, resulting in genetically unique offspring.

MOST FeRTILE DAYS?

🍁A woman is most f£rtile while 0vulating. The fertile window of a woman depends on the length of her menstrual cycle, which varies among women.

🍁Out of these, 3 days are right before ovulation, 1 on the day of 0vulation, and 1 day after 0vulation. These days are the most feπtile as sp£rm can stay alive in a woman’s birth canal for up to 5 days and the egg deteriorates between 24 to 48 hours after 0vulation.

🍁Thus, the most feπtile days can be c@lculated based on cycle length.

WHAT IS 0VULATION

Each month, between days 6 and 14 of the m£nstrual cycle, f0llicle-stimulating hoπmone (FSH) causes f0llicles in one of a woman’s 0varies to begin to mature.

However, during days 10 to 14, only one of the developing f0llicles forms a fully mature egg. At about day 14 in the m£nstrual cycle, a sudden surge in luteinizing h0rmone causes the 0vary to release its egg.

The release of the mature egg is called 0vulation.

WHEN ARE YOUR F£RTILE DAYS

To count f£rtile days, track your cycle to find 0vulation (about 14 days before your next p£riod), then identify your f£rtile window as the 5 days before ovulation plus 0vulation day, as sp£rm lives up to 5 days and an egg lives 24 hours.
