YORK HARBOR INN LIGHTS IT UP BLUE FOR AUTISM AWARENESS
The York Harbor Inn will be hosting their 4th Annual “Light It Up Blue” fundraising event to raise money and awareness for local Maine autism charities on Wednesday, April 5th from 5pm to 8pm in the Yorkshire Ballroom and Oceanview Dining Room. Waban’s Fraser-Ford Child Development Center is building an Autism Therapy Wing and will receive 75
% of the proceeds to go toward the capital campaign. The other 25% will benefit a local program providing Autism Service Dogs. Each April, the York Harbor Inn celebrates “Light It Up Blue” along with the international autism community, in commemoration of the United Nations-sanctioned World Autism Awareness Day. “Light It Up Blue” is a unique global initiative that kicks-off Autism Awareness Month and helps raise awareness about autism and the people it affects. In honor of this historic day many iconic landmarks, hotels, sporting venues, concert halls, museums, bridges and retail stores are among the hundreds of thousands of homes and communities that take part by lighting venues blue and promoting awareness with charitable events. In the last three years, with the assistance of generous individuals and businesses, this event has raised over $30,000.00 that was distributed locally to various autism charities supporting children and families in Maine. Attendees will again enjoy spending time on the dance floor with Clark Sillery from Fred Pappalardo DJs and will have the opportunity to win raffles and participate in the silent auction. Cash bar and refreshments will be provided by the York Harbor Inn and Kate’s Bakery will be serving up some delicious desserts.
