OSS Health Pain Management Physician, Dr. Taryn Reichard (right), and Community Liaison, Wendy Crecelius, were excited to participate in The Salvation Army Harrisburg Capital City Region's 14th Annual Shoe Strut. More than 750 people attended the event on Friday, which featured a luncheon, a live and silent auction, and fun contests. For every attendee, a new pair of shoes will be given to a local child in need and all money raised will support the organization's many programs and services.

Congratulations to OSS Health Physiatrist, Dr. Michael Furman, on receiving the Charles N. Aprill Lifetime Achievement Award for his significant career-spanning contributions to the field of interventional pain medicine!

During the 2025 International Pain and Spine Intervention Society's (IPSIS) Annual Meeting held last week in Denver, past IPSIS President, Joshua Rittenberg, MD, presented Dr. Furman with this award. It is the highest distinction the Society bestows and is given to only the most influential minds in the field.

We are so proud of Dr. Furman for receiving this prestigious award and for his ongoing dedication to advancing interventional pain medicine.

Patients in the Harrisburg and West Shore area are now able to receive comprehensive physical therapy on-site Monday through Friday. Additional clinic space is also now open to better serve our patients in south central Pennsylvania.

For the second year in a row, OSS Orthopaedic Hospital has been recognized as one of 529 hospitals nationwide for 5-Star Nurse Communication. The list, compiled by Becker's Hospital Review, was based on questions to patients asking how well their nurses explained things clearly, listened carefully to them, and treated them with courtesy and respect. Congratulations to our nurses who provide the best care every day, and who deserve this impressive recognition!

On Wednesday evening, OSS Health's Dr. Abbie Kelley spoke to the Spring Grove Girls' Soccer Team about ways in which they can optimize their sports performances by being mindful of their overall health. She discussed how addressing the medical, orthopedic, psychological and nutritional needs of female athletes not only allows for improvement to their game, but also minimizes the risk of injury.

OSS Health physician, Dr. Brian Bixler, participated in the 27th Annual Rail Trail 10-Miler this past Saturday. The run was held by the York Road Runners Club and benefitted The Arc of York and Adams Counties, a local organization that empowers people with intellectual disabilities to become active, vocal, and skilled community members.

We love supporting our community and having some fun in the process!

Back to school means back to sports and OSS Health is ready! Our Athletic Trainers have been busy preparing for the fall sports season, and can't wait to be on the sidelines providing care for our local student athletes when they need it most. Whether an injury involves brief on-the-spot treatment or follow up care with one of our physicians, our goal is to keep players safe, healthy and in the game.
