"Calorie counting is a trap! Your body isn’t a calculator – it’s controlled by hormones."
1️⃣ Why “eat less, move more” DOESN’T WORK
✋ Your body tricks you: If you eat too little, it slows down your metabolism (like turning off the heating).
🍞 Carbs are the problem: Bread/pasta/candy → high insulin → your body stores fat instead of burning it.
😩 You get hungrier: Your body sends out ghrelin (the hunger hormone) – all you think about is food!
💡 The point:
“It’s not YOU who’s weak – it’s your HORMONE BALANCE that’s messed up!”
2️⃣ How to fix it: 2 simple steps
A. Eat FAT & CUT CARBS (LCHF method)
🥑 Eat veggies + fats: Avocados, olive oil, nuts, fish.
🚫 Ditch sugar and bread: Max 50g carbs per day (like 1 banana + some veggies).
🥩 Protein is fine: Meat, eggs, cheese – but fat is KING!
"Fill up on fat – your hunger will disappear naturally!"
B. TRY INTERMITTENT FASTING
⏱ The 16:8 rule: Eat only during an 8-hour window (e.g., 12:00–8:00), then fast for 16 hours.
🔥 Bonus: When you’re not eating, your body burns fat like a “deep clean.”
"Let your stomach rest – and your body will take care of the rest!"
3️⃣ Three things to NEVER do:
🚫 Eat “light” products (e.g., Coke Zero) → they make you crave sweets!
🚫 Eat 6 small meals a day → keeps insulin high ALL THE TIME.
🚫 Believe exercise alone will save you – food is 80% of the solution!
✅ The results:
🩺 Diabetics: Stopped needing insulin within 2 months.
⚖️ Regular people: Lost 10–15 kg (22–33 lbs) in a year – without starving!
📏 Waistlines: Many saw a flat belly for the first time ever!
🌟 Elin’s best advice:
"Stop fighting hunger – fix your hormones instead!
When insulin is low, your body BURNS FAT on its own."

Lipedema: Troubles Caused by Fat Metabolism Imbalance
Lipedema is a chronic disease that mainly affects the lower extremities. It is characterized by abnormal and uneven accumulation of adipose tissue. This condition often presents bilaterally symmetrically, usually starting from the distal part of the legs and gradually spreading upwards.
Lymphedema: Swelling Caused by Obstructed Lymphatic Circulation
Lymphedema occurs due to a dysfunction in the lymphatic system, which leads to poor lymphatic fluid drainage. Excessive lymphatic fluid accumulates in the interstitial spaces, thereby causing local or systemic swelling.

The Victorian Government has updated visitor restrictions for healthcare settings from tomorrow, Wednesday 12 January. These restrictions are to help us keep our patients safe from COVID-19.

Under these new restrictions, unvaccinated visitors will be required to undergo a Rapid Antigen Test at Royal Melbourne Hospital sites. If this is negative, they will be able to visit in a N95 mask. Those visitors that test positive will be unable to proceed to visit and will be advised of next steps.

Fully vaccinated visitors can continue to visit in an N95 mask.

Other visiting restrictions are unchanged:

- Patients can have one visitor per day
- Visits may be for a maximum of 2 hours
- Visiting hours are limited to between 10am – 1.30pm and/or 2.30pm – 8pm
- Visitors must complete a screening/attestation survey

Exceptions are in place for end-of-life situations - please speak to the nurse-in-charge before your arrival.

We understand this is challenging, and we hope to welcome more visitors soon. We know the difference visitors can make to the reassurance of your loved ones, and it helps reduce their isolation during a vulnerable time. We thank you for your continued patience, support and kindness during this period.
