Plantain is making a strong presence on our farm right now. It's large, beautiful and everywhere. I pulled out Backyard Medicine to see what nature is offering. Plantain tea is used for coughs, bronchitis, irritable bowel, hemorrhoids, hay fever. Combines well with mint and elderflower for allergies and hay fever. Adding mint and/or ginger should be nice for digestive issues.

I'm looking for 2 volunteers with thinning hair or male pattern baldness to test my Hair Growth Oil.

It has done well for regrowing hair after chemotherapy and other health issues. And then someone asked if it helps with "regular baldness". Let's find out.

Honeysuckle is a beautiful herb to work with.

Herbalists across many traditions to help with:

Conditions involving heat - colds, flu, viruses, respiratory infections, fever, menopausal hot flashes, sunstroke, fever, urinary tract infections
Viral and bacterial infections
Digestive disorders
Headaches
Diabetes
Arthritis
Skin conditions

I use mostly flowers but include a few leaves. Can be used fresh or dried for later use.

Tea: 1-2 tablespoons of flowers in a cup of hot water. Steep 10 minutes.
Cooled tea can be used for itchy rashes, such as poison ivy.

Tincture: fill jar 2/3 with fresh or dried honeysuckle, add 80-100 proof alcohol (such as vodka or brandy), apple cider vinegar or vegetable glycerine. Shake often (once or twice a day at first, frequently after a few days) for 4-6 weeks. Strain and bottle.

Honeysuckle can also be infused in oil to soothe chapped or irritated skin, used as is or in lotions, salves, lip balms, etc.

Infuse in honey for a very tasty way to deal with sore throats, viruses or just to treat yourself. 💗

We’re heading to the market at the corner of Dulles and Foreman drive now. We have plants - tomatoes, hot and sweet peppers, eggplant and herbs. Other vendors have fresh veggies. 😊
