We haven't been posting on social media because life has just been too hectic but I know everyone needs am update so what better way to sum it all than in one post...
As many of you know, we have been fighting the city of Ypsilanti to keep our pigs. We lost and had to send three of our herd into foster care, while we figured out our next move.
Eventually, they tried to kick Mute out too... coupled that with a toxic home (It's obviously all of our symptoms that there was mold growing and the landlord wasn't doing anything about it), in July we decided to break our lease, pack everything up, and embark on what ended up being a three month camping excursion while we found a new home.
It is with a heavy heart that I announce that Mute, our oldest, and beloved face of DJ Bass Pig, passed away in August. They believe he had cancer and it was caught way too late. He had ongoing health issues that were difficult to pin down, so we literally had been doing the best we could with the info we has been given by the vets.
He was ready and he passed peacefully via euthanasia. Steph sang to him one last time and he wasn't in any pain.
The last thing we promised him was that we were going to find a forever home and bring the rest of our herd home.
In September, our house hunting paid off. We found a home in Jackson, MI. The owners had a horse and a turkey and one of the neighbors has a lot of sheep! The house sits on 5 acres. Which all means we can have the pigs there!
October 17th, we moved in to our forever home! We bought the home in Jackson and will eventually turn it into a sanctuary for sick, abandoned, and elderly pigs. But today?Today is very important. Today we bring home the rest of our herd!!!
Some of our herd are only in our hearts and memories, where we will keep them and cherish the life we had together. I know that Mute and Pickle are watching over us while we end this chapter of our lives and begin a new page. The next adventure is just around the corner and while they can't be with us in body, they are with us in spirit.
Thank you, DJ Bass Pig Family, for going on this journey with us. We hope to finally start posting again. Please keep an eye out for updates here, as well as our new page Tie Dye Tails - Fundraiser For Disability Rights & Piggy Love (that page is under heavy construction so please bear with us while we get the dust to settle).
