We are a Therapy & Awareness group, with a future goal of becoming a non-profit. We do pet pig fundraisers and events, naturally, but also do things such as nursing home visits, group homes & hospices. of course!) for schools pre-k to college, girl/boy scout troops, and other miscellaneous educational events. Muta & Sophie are the two hams who go out in public, we have 4 potbellied pigs (mini-pigs) total- and we have just begun introducing Bubbie to the public! (Unfortunately Vinnie is the absolutely perfect pig for our work but has begun having excitement related seizures) "Moo" & "Soph-a-Loaf" love (pig-safe) parties in LA and music venues. I mean, therapy & education is our life, but you have to be a party animal sometimes, right? If appropriate, we can attend really anywhere we are invited. (Although they are legal assistance animals and Muta is Steph's service animal for her vertigo & fainting spells, we ALWAYS require permission from the establishment!)

We are also branching into fundraisers and events such as "Kiss The Pig for Cancer" and anything for charity or a good cause. We are always interested in helping people see the brighter side of the pet pig community, and what better way to do that than by supporting not just other animals, but human causes too! We love people, the pigs love people, and people love them.... so join us in supporting your community and ours by inviting us to visist or to help with your event or cause! Our reward is to make people smile and educate those who ask about them, simple as that :-) And the pigs love it, which is always a bonus!

***WE DO NOT CHARGE FOR ANYTHING WE DO***
We ont think It's right! When out on the street the pigs often wear donation boxes and are LOVE DONATIONS. We wont turn one down, but People think we EXPECT a donation for these. This includes schools, nursing homes, girl & boy scout troops, and fun stuff like parties, music venues and events... even personal visits! The point is to have fun and SPREAD PIGGY LOVE! Networking is fantastic and a recommendation letter even better, but our reward is to make people smile :-)

Resharing, because it’s been a while. We are still working on moving things over to the new page. Our Instagram will serve as an archive.

Hello DJ Bass Pig Community!

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that we are going to be retiring the page. Over the course of the rest of the month, we are going to be moving all pictures, videos, and other keepsakes, to our new page Hippie Hog Refuge. PLEASE join us over there!

We want to thank everyone for their love and support. Those we met in California, we miss you all so very much! Your love and support has gotten us through the toughest of times.

In 2018, we lost Muta pig to cancer, and our lives haven't been the same. We think of him, and miss him every single day.

That same year, we bought a house, and brought our other pigs home, from foster care.

Now we are focusing on building our small animal sanctuary on our 5 acre hobby-farm. On top of that, we are also focusing on community volunteer work in Ypsilanti and Jackson, MI, where Steph helps distribute food to families in need.

We love you all! Our online community reaches beyond what we ever imagined. We hope this new leg of our journey will be just as amazing as the last. We couldn't have done it without you! ❤

THANK YOU FOR WALKING WITH US ON THIS AMAZING JOURNEY AND THANK YOU FOR HELPING US SPREAD PIGGY LOVE!

Happy Halloween! These are the costumes. 🎃

01/11/2018

Mamma Pig Steph is perfecting her technique for making piggy tie dye shirts! These two are the ones she made for Jason (left/top) and herself (right/bottom). These were worn for Halloween! She spent all night making these and they turned out beautifully!

I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful Halloween! 🎃 We will post pics of the full costumes, very soon!

I don’t know about you, but I think they are adjusting just fine, to being home.

After SEVEN long months, our babies are finally back home, where they belong. This has been a very long road and one that came with a lot of struggles. But being able to see them and lay on the floor with them and know they are safe and warm and with us forever, made it all worth it. ❤️❤️❤️ (to clarify, we knew they were safe in foster care, it’s just different being able to see them face to face lol)

We haven't been posting on social media because life has just been too hectic but I know everyone needs am update so what better way to sum it all than in one post...

As many of you know, we have been fighting the city of Ypsilanti to keep our pigs. We lost and had to send three of our herd into foster care, while we figured out our next move.

Eventually, they tried to kick Mute out too... coupled that with a toxic home (It's obviously all of our symptoms that there was mold growing and the landlord wasn't doing anything about it), in July we decided to break our lease, pack everything up, and embark on what ended up being a three month camping excursion while we found a new home.

It is with a heavy heart that I announce that Mute, our oldest, and beloved face of DJ Bass Pig, passed away in August. They believe he had cancer and it was caught way too late. He had ongoing health issues that were difficult to pin down, so we literally had been doing the best we could with the info we has been given by the vets.

He was ready and he passed peacefully via euthanasia. Steph sang to him one last time and he wasn't in any pain.

The last thing we promised him was that we were going to find a forever home and bring the rest of our herd home.

In September, our house hunting paid off. We found a home in Jackson, MI. The owners had a horse and a turkey and one of the neighbors has a lot of sheep! The house sits on 5 acres. Which all means we can have the pigs there!

October 17th, we moved in to our forever home! We bought the home in Jackson and will eventually turn it into a sanctuary for sick, abandoned, and elderly pigs. But today?Today is very important. Today we bring home the rest of our herd!!!

Some of our herd are only in our hearts and memories, where we will keep them and cherish the life we had together. I know that Mute and Pickle are watching over us while we end this chapter of our lives and begin a new page. The next adventure is just around the corner and while they can't be with us in body, they are with us in spirit.

Thank you, DJ Bass Pig Family, for going on this journey with us. We hope to finally start posting again. Please keep an eye out for updates here, as well as our new page Tie Dye Tails - Fundraiser For Disability Rights & Piggy Love (that page is under heavy construction so please bear with us while we get the dust to settle).

As some of the locals have probably seen by now our story was featured on both channels 4 and 7. First off, channel 7 did an amazing job and showed the loving, amazing calm animals that they are. However, channel 4 showed what looked like chaotic loud animals and made false claims of a “passer by” was allegedly bit by one of the pigs however when we looked into this and called the humane society they said they route these type of calls about animal bites and they don’t recall hearing anything like this so this tells us it was a lie made up by someone to bring more negativity to our case then there already is so please before you start believing everything you hear from the media please come to us first and we will be 110% up front and honest to anyone who wants more detail

WE ARE GOING TO BE IN THE ANN ARBOR NEWS (newspaper in ANN Arbor, Michigan that also covers Ypsilanti) and on Mlive.com first thing in the morning!

Benny contacted a reporter last night we WISH we had contacted months ago, and he came out first thing this morning! He interviewed us on what the pigs do for us and our disabilities and what it is we are fighting. We educated him on the laws, gave him some printouts we are taking to court tomorrow including the printout of the law revolving around Reasonable Accommodation requests in lamens terms that HUD and the DOJ puts out that talks about how the laws cover local and state governments and it talked specifically about Emotional support Animals. He called the city attorney as well who told hi, that we didn't get written so,if immunity from them before moving here so the law doesn't apply. That's like saying we had to give them a heads up about denying us. First step is to make the request for a reasonable accommodation, which we did, both before and after. If a disabled person wants an emotional support Animals an their doctor approves, they don't need the city to choose what type and breed of an animal they should get for themselves. We've got so many highlighted documents the judge would be blind not to see the black and white of this very simple law.

Anyway... look online tomorrow on MLive.com. many people think we will make front page. If you happen to be local and get the newspaper, we'd love to pick up your copy! THANKS!

WISH US LUCK! WE WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED!

Oh, the reporters name is Kullen Logsdon and he is SSSOOOO NICE! THANK YOU SO MUCH

(Picture courtesy of Kullen. Our 6month old son, Jason Prime, holding onto Vinnie, the only pig that will stand still for Jason to cling to lol. We teach him to be gentle but sweet Vinnie hasn't minded his nose and ears grabbed at all. Those 2 are gonna be buddies I can tell!)

Note:

APPARENTLY THERE HAVE BEEN SOME MISUNDERSTANDINGS. THE LAWS ARE IN FACT FAIR HOUSING LAWS THAT HAVE ROOTS IN THE ADA. I'M EXPLAINING BELOW. BUT REGARDLESS, THE CASE WE HAVE IS SOLID. THE FHAA SAYS EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMALS CAN BE ANY ANIMAL AND THEY MUST BE COVERED AS A REASONABLE ACCOMODATION IN HOUSING. THE ADA BACKS THAT UP BY SAYING REASONABLE ACCOMODATIONS MUST BE PERMITTED BY GOVERNMENT ENTITIES. THEY WORK TOGETHER. THE FAIR HOUSING ACT GIVES THE SPECIFICS OF WHAT THE ACCOMODATIONS ARE ALLOWED TO BE IN HOUSING, AND THE ADA LAYS THE SMACK DOWN AND SAYS THE FAIR HOUSING ACT MUST BE UPHELD IN REGATDS TO REASONABKE ACCOMODATIONS. EVERYONE THAT COMMENTED ABOUT IT BEING A FHA LAW IS ABSOKUTEKY RIGHT!!! I LOVE THAT THERE ARE SO MANY EDUCATED PEOPLE THESE DAYS! DO YOU GUYS WANNA GIVE A LESSON TO THE CITY OF YPSI? LOL. LET'S JUST AGREE THAT AS A DISABLED HOUSEHOLD WITH SEVERAL PEOPLE ON DISABILITY WITH MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES, THAT THE CITY IS IN THE WRONG TO DENY US HAVING OUR EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMALS THAT ARE NO THREAT TO THE PUBLIC AND IN FACT LOVED BY EVERYONE WHO MEETS THEM ON THE STREET.

(Ps... sorry for the typos, spell check doesn't catch caps and its 2:30am and I have court tomorrow. Trying not to cry from misunderstandings and being disappointed people are focusing on which law it is and not the actual injustice)

***KEEP READING BELOW FOR THE STORY! SORRY FOR THE NEED FOR THE STATEMENT ABOVE! ***

My name is Stephanie Rowland and my family and I are trying to think positive but we are in a hard place. The City of Ypsilanti in Michigan is trying to kick us out of our home and force us to move, because of Muta and our other 3 potbellied pigs. We received approval from the city to have all 4 of them, before we even looked here. The laws cover us under the Fair Housing Act and the ADA covers “reasonable accommodations”. We were in the process of working out immunity papers with the city attorneys when the Chief of Police filed a complaint and forced an officer to issue a civil citation. Our household has multiple disabled people in it. In fact, I have been labeled with PTSD over this situation. It is very scary.

This is a Disability Discrimination case. Our pigs are upstanding members of the community and the law says we can have them!

Our pigs have been certified by 9 different doctors, whom I have letters from throughout 12 years, as emotional support animals. Our piggy children live posh lives inside our house in their personal room on couches and giant bean bags, and bask in the summer sun outside within their underground fence space. We live downtown and people stop to love on them and take selfies.

Many of you know Muta, the seizure & Medical alert Pig who used to go a lot of places with us. Some of you also know our other 3 pigs who do therapy work such as nursing homes and educational programs. But most of you don’t know Muta and the pigs have a 6month old baby human brother, and 3 human step-siblings. We could move, but we are very limited in WHERE we can move to, because of the laws, and our community disability support being in Washtenaw, and a house big enough for 3 adults, 3 kids, a baby and our 4 sweet piggies!

We need a lawyer ASAP. If we lose the case we need to file paperwork to give us more time. And we plan on bringing a lawsuit against the city.

We were working with an advocate who was very helpful for about 2 days then kinda dropped out. Very helpful individuals and advocates welcome!

Also, we need housing if we need to move. We love it here and this is home! We have great refs and decent credit. And can sign up to a 3yr lease. If you have suggestions let us know!

You can reach us at:
PiggyParadisePenthouse@yahoo.com or Call/Text Benny Danovi who is handling the calls @ 248-961-7405. Leave a message if no answer.

PLEASE SUPPORT US AND HELP US GO TO WAR!!!! Not just for us, but for disabled people who deserve the law to be followed to make our community a better place and provide us a happier home!
