Hey families…
Raise your hand if you have a
Step-Sister or Step-Brother???
Well if I asked you to define what a Step-Brother or Step-Sister is what would your answer be?
I’m most certain that most would agree that it’s a sibling by way of being connected to one parent, but could it be considered beyond that?
Could it be and, or should it be more inclusive rather than exclusive?
The reason for these three questions is to give thought to the current definition.
What would it look like to REDEFINE what we have known to be our understanding of Step-Brothers and/or Step-Sisters?
* Humanity is the relationship of being connected.
We are all brothers and sisters.
We all came from the initial creation and
pro-generation of family.
(Genesis 1:28)… Be fruitful and multiply.
No matter race, creed or color.
We are a step closer to one another when we connect the two dots.
I know that I have certain people in mind that I consider as family , as my brother or sister who have no blood relation but we are bonded together.
These are the REDEFINED Step-Brothers or Step-Sisters.
They are close like a brother or close as a sister and the beauty & balance in it is that they’re usually a step away, hence the use of the hyphen in the spelling of the word Step-brother/sister!
I have a few friends who are beyond the bond of friendship. They are my step-brothers and sisters. The hyphen (-) gives a visual that connects one to another.
One of my Step-Brothers is and one of my Step-Sisters is .
Anytime I need them they’re always a (-) step away as I am a (-) step away.
Stepping closer gives a beautiful perspective of reflection.
The bond is beyond blood relation it’s the connectivity of humanity.
This is what humanity looks like.
Proverbs 18:24
A man that hath friends must shewe himselfe friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer then a brother.
Don’t we all have at least one friend who fits this description?
Let’s step closer to our “close friends” and benefit from being the balance between blood and bond.

Step-Sisters, Step-Brothers as humanity!
