A promise you made to your team, your doctors, your family.

The industry keeps calling it a technician shortage.

I think that's only half the story.

You see, we're not just losing people at the entry point. We're losing them in the middle. The ones who learned the craft, carried the weight, and one day decided the math didn't work anymore. The ones who never heard anybody say what they were doing mattered.

That's not a pipeline problem. That's a culture problem. And it won't get fixed with a job listing.

Episode 4 is about the first time I had to teach somebody to mount models. Episode 13 is about what happens when the person you poured into walks out the door.

Both of them are about the same thing -- what it actually costs to keep this trade alive.

Margins and Meaning. Protect your margins. Protect your meaning.

You see, guys, everybody loves the beginning story.
The garage. The hustle. The furnace years.

And everybody loves the ending.
The exit. The handoff. The clean little bow.

But the middle is where most of us live.
And that's where the meaning actually gets forged.

If you're in the middle, you're not behind.
You're in it.

I walked into the lab early the other morning. Before the phones. Before the cases. Before anybody else's expectations showed up.

And I stopped at a bench that's been sitting the same way for a long time. Set up like the guy just stepped out for a coffee. But he didn't. Life pulled him somewhere else.

That bench hit me harder than I expected.

In a world full of AI make-believe, the artist still matters.

AI can fabricate an image.
It can mimic beauty.
It can create something that looks convincing.

But it still takes a real eye to know what is true.
What is balanced.
What is beautiful.
What is possible.

That is where we come in.

AI is not the replacement for artistry.
It is the extension of it.
A tool that, when used with intention, can help us see further, explore deeper, and bring the mind’s eye closer to reality.

The magic was never in the software.
It was always in the artist using it.

We are still the artists.
The machine just helps us speak faster.
