A Community Conversation

Tuesday, August 12, 2025
3:30-4:30 p.m.

1430 Park Avenue, Fernandina Beach

Are you raising your grandchildren? Your nieces or nephews?
Florida has more than 200,000 children being raised by grandparents or other relatives.

On August 12, Story & Song’s monthly “Tuesdays with TED” presentation will feature a Community Conversation about relatives raising relatives: understanding the reasons, the
mental and financial stresses, the lifestyle changes. The TED Talk video presenter is Dr. Angela Tobin, founder and executive director of Kinship Caregivers Connect.

Following the video, NAMI & Starting Point volunteer Maureen Kingsley Paschke will facilitate audience discussion. Attend the event to learn more about this particular type of caregiving in
NE Florida, or if you have experience as a kinship caregiver or were raised by a non-parent relative, you are welcome to share your story as you are comfortable.
