To ensure patient comfort, safety, and dignity, military treatment facilities in the Defense Health Agency use trained medical chaperones for appointments. While our staff will offer a chaperone for sensitive exams, every patient has the right to request one at any time for any reason, ensuring you feel respected and supported in your care.

Attention Service Members! 💪 "Know Your Supplements. Protect Your Career."

Are you thinking about using dietary supplements to boost your performance or improve your health? Before you do, it's crucial to know about Operation Supplement Safety (OPSS).

**What is OPSS? **

OPSS is the Department of Defense's program designed to educate service members about dietary supplements.

Its mission is to provide evidence-based information to help you make informed decisions and avoid products that could harm your health or your military career.

** Why is this so important? **

Many dietary supplements on the market—especially those for weight loss, muscle building, and sexual enhancement—can contain undeclared or prohibited substances.

These hidden ingredients can lead to:

-- Adverse health effects: Some supplements have been linked to serious issues like liver damage, heart problems, and even death.
-- Positive drug tests: Undeclared ingredients can cause you to fail a urinalysis, putting your career at risk.
-- Wasted money: Many products make claims that aren't backed by science.

** How can OPSS help? **

OPSS provides valuable resources to help you stay safe:

-- DoD Prohibited Dietary Supplement Ingredients List: Check this list before taking any supplement to ensure it doesn't contain any banned substances.
-- OPSS Scorecard: A simple tool to help you evaluate the safety of a supplement at a glance.
-- "Ask the Expert": Get your questions about supplements answered by a professional.

Your health and career are too important to risk. Before you take any supplement, do your research and talk to your healthcare provider.
