When I was in the depths of chronic illness, I read a book called "Why Woo Woo Works". It changed my entire preception of reality. Whether we like to belive it or not your words, thoughts, and emotions carry a vibration. The more we reinforce the negative, the more we follow that same neural pathway. Your brain has neuroplasticity, which means it has the ability to form new paths at every decision. For me a neural pathway that had been paved was "oh no I'm starting a symptom of a flare, my body is going to feel awful, I'm going to have a panic attack and I have to stay in bed for days". When I started recognizing that thought pattern, I started to change my reaction. I didn't trust my body enough to get through it. With time and a lot of practice I repaved that neural pathway and now my reaction is completely different. This is true for all parts of your life. Think of a neural pathway like a deer path. The deer carve out paths through the woods to get to water. They take the same path every single day. Then maybe they decide, "there's something scary on this path". They start to form a new path. The new path is of course overgrown filled with sticks, pokey stuff, maybe even some things they've never seen before. But after a few days or weeks, the path gets clearer and clearer while that original path starts to grow and fill in. Soon, the original path is no longer a path and the new path is the primary way to water. So when you say things like "my body is never healthy" or "I will have to feel this way my entire life", "birth is hard and painful", "money is hard to make", "diagnosis X will always have to control me", etc. You get the idea. If you don't like what your reality is, try small shifts in your thoughts and see what happens. What's the worst that could happen?
