We’re kicking off Activity Professionals Week by celebrating our incredible Activity Department at Cedar Hill and the heart, creativity, and dedication they bring to our community every single day!

Our activity team does so much more than plan events — they create moments of joy, build meaningful connections, and help our residents find purpose in each and every day. From favorite games and special celebrations to creative projects and one-on-one moments, they create experiences that truly matter.

Their compassion, patience, and passion shine through in everything they do, and our residents feel that love in countless ways. We’re so grateful for the care, energy, and creativity they pour into Cedar Hill.

Our residents enjoyed a cozy afternoon painting beautiful winter canvases, bringing charming gnomes and snowy forest scenes to life. Each piece reflected a unique take on winter, proving that even when we’re ready for spring, there’s still beauty (and a little fun) to be found in the season.

Painting activities like this give our residents a chance to relax, express themselves, and enjoy time together while creating something meaningful. The finished canvases now add a cheerful, seasonal touch throughout our community.

It’s always a joy to see our residents’ creativity at work and a wonderful reminder of the imagination and joy everyone brings to Cedar Hill.

Recently we received this heartfelt letter from a family member, and it beautifully reflects the compassion, dedication, and genuine care our staff shows each and every day. We are honored to share these kind words and so proud of the heart our team brings to our Cedar Hill family.

"Dear Staff at Cedar Hill,

I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks to each of you who cared for my daughter, Pippi, during her stay for rehabilitation after surgery. During a challenging and at times overwhelming time for her, your compassion, patience, and professionalism made an incredible difference.

You didn't just provide medical care, you offered reassurance, encouragement, and genuine kindness. Whether it was helping her through therapy, answering questions, easing her worries, or simply checking in with a smile, every act mattered more than you may realize. As a parent, it meant everything to know she was in such capable and caring hands.

Your dedication does not go unnoticed. The long hours, the physical and emotional demands of your work, and the empathy you bring to each patient are truly remarkable. Our family will always be grateful for the role you played in recovery and healing.

Cedar Hill welcomed the New Year the best way we know how — with plenty of delicious food prepared by our amazing Dietary Manager, Lucy. From start to finish, the spread was full of flavor and made the celebration extra special for our residents and staff.

Lucy’s love for cooking and sharing shines through everything she creates, and this New Year’s celebration was no exception. Her thoughtful touches and tasty dishes brought everyone together to enjoy good food, great company, and a joyful start to the year ahead.

A big thank-you to Lucy for helping us ring in the New Year with full hearts and very happy taste buds. Here’s to a wonderful year ahead at Cedar Hill!

The Cedar Hill Healthcare & Rehabilitation and Sterling Suites teams came together to celebrate the holiday season with a Christmas party filled with great food, laughter, and time to connect. Staff from across our campus gathered to enjoy a small, but well-deserved break, share a meal, and celebrate the teamwork that makes our community so special.

While not everyone went home with a prize, the gift card drawing added a little extra excitement and fun to the afternoon — especially with our Administrator, Andy, on the mic, keeping things lively with his great announcing skills, sense of humor, and a perfectly timed dad joke or two (he sleighs every time). More importantly, the celebration was about showing appreciation for the dedication, compassion, and hard work our staff brings to our residents each and every day.

We are incredibly grateful for each member of our Cedar and Sterling teams. Thank you for all you do to make our campus a place of care, support, and heart — especially during the busy holiday season.

’Twas the week of Christmas at Cedar Hill so dear,
When excitement and joy filled the air both far and near.
The residents gathered with smiles shining so bright,
Sensing something magical was soon to be in sight.

Then in walked Santa with gifts piled high in his sack,
Spreading cheer and good wishes with a jolly “ho, ho, ho” back.
Packages opened and the laughter did ring,
A moment of warmth only Christmas can bring.

From shared smiles to presents and holiday cheer,
It was a Christmas at Cedar Hill our residents will forever hold dear.

Our residents were recently treated to a wonderful evening filled with the rich harmonies and holiday cheer of the Y-City Barbershop Chorus. Their classic sound brought smiles, toe-tapping, and a warm sense of togetherness among everyone in attendance.

Music has a way of lifting hearts, sparking memories, and creating connection — and this visit did exactly that. We are grateful to the Y-City Barbershop Chorus for sharing their time and talent with us and for making the season feel a bit brighter.

There’s a playful prank war happening at Cedar Hill between our Administrator, Andy, and one of our residents, Saundra — and Saundra just scored big!

After vowing that she’d get him back, Saundra followed through by decorating Andy’s office door in Cleveland Browns colors. As a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Andy took the good-natured prank in stride, proving that a bit of friendly rivalry makes our community even more fun.

Moments like this are what make Cedar Hill special — shared laughs, big personalities, and a pinch of team rivalry mixed in. We can’t wait to see what happens next!

A Sweet Holiday Afternoon

Our residents enjoyed a delightful afternoon decorating Christmas cookies — and the creativity was on full display! From colorful frosting to cheerful sprinkles, each cookie became its own work of festive holiday art.

Laughter, conversation, and the smell of fresh-baked sweetness filled the room as everyone added their personal touch. It was a cozy, joy-filled activity that brought out plenty of smiles and holiday cheer.

Decking the Halls at Cedar Hill

There’s something magical about the holiday season, and our lobby felt that sparkle as residents came together to decorate the Christmas tree. They helped to hang lights, carefully selected ornaments, and added festive touches that made the tree uniquely theirs.

The joyful act of decorating together brought out plenty of smiles and heartfelt conversations, turning it into a magical and meaningful moment of connection and holiday joy.

Now the tree stands proudly in the lobby — a cheerful reminder of the season and the wonderful residents who helped bring the holiday spirit to Cedar Hill. 🎄

Pastor Jason from Shrivers Hospice Foundation stopped in to sing and play guitar for our residents, and his visit was as uplifting as ever. His music fills the halls with comfort, joy, and familiarity — a combination our residents truly cherish.

They always look forward to the days he comes in and today was no exception. From classic hymns to gentle melodies, Pastor Jason brings a calming presence and a genuine connection that brightens everyone’s day.

Game Day Fun!

Our residents had a lively afternoon playing a favorite game called Grab Bag Dice. The rules are simple, but the excitement definitely isn’t! Six mystery bags are sat in the center of the table, each marked with a number. To claim a bag, players had to roll doubles that matched the number on the bag.

But the real fun came with the twist — if someone else rolled the same doubles, they could steal the bag right out of your hands! The room was full of laughter, groans, friendly competition, and plenty of cheering as the bags changed hands again and again.

Games like this keep everyone engaged, energized, and connected, and they always bring out a playful spirit. Our residents had a wonderful time seeing who luck would favor in each round.

Another fun-filled day at Cedar Hill!
