It’s the little moments that make life the sweetest. Today our residents gathered together for a special treat— dipping pre-rolled peanut butter balls into melted chocolate to make the classic Buckeyes candy!

As we worked, stories started flowing. Many shared memories of making Buckeyes with their children or during the holidays, while others said this was their very first time trying them. The room was filled with laughter, the smell of chocolate, and the joy of creating something together.

More than just a delicious snack, the activity gave us the chance to connect, reminisce, and celebrate traditions old and new. And of course, the best part came at the end—tasting the Buckeyes we made with our own hands.

Here at our community, we treasure these moments of togetherness, where friendships grow stronger and every day is made a little brighter.

This Therapy Thursday, one of our residents enjoyed a meaningful and therapeutic activity - removing seeds from a sunflower!

Not only is this task calming and rewarding, but it’s also a wonderful way to work on fine motor skills, dexterity and preplanning. By carefully pulling the seeds from the flower head, she strengthens her hands and fingers while also thinking ahead about how those seeds will be used—some set aside to feed the birds now, and others saved to plant for next year’s blooms.
A simple task becomes a therapeutic moment, connecting movement, mindfulness, and purpose.

Happy Share Your Care Day from Willow Haven!
The Care Bears remind us that caring is what counts — and today, our Willow Haven family truly brought that message to life in the best way possible.

Staff and families joined together to spread kindness by purchasing heartfelt Care Notes. Each note came with words of love, encouragement, or appreciation — and a little something sweet! Our wonderful administrator, Marissa, went above and beyond to make the delivery extra special. Dressed head-to-toe as a Care Bear , she hand-delivered each note personally, bringing smiles, laughter, and even a few happy tears to residents and staff throughout the building.

To top off the celebration, our staff were enjoyed beautifully decorated sugar cookies from our friend at You’re Bakin’ Me Crazy. The cookies weren’t just delicious — they were another reminder that even small gestures can make people feel seen, valued, and cared for.

Share Your Care Day may come once a year, but here at Willow Haven, we believe in celebrating kindness every single day. From big moments to simple acts of love, every effort makes the world a little brighter.

Did you know that September 4 was Macadamia Nut Day? We couldn’t let it pass without celebrating in the sweetest way possible! Our staff enjoyed delicious white chocolate macadamia cookies paired with warm hot chocolate, and it was the perfect way to relax, recharge, and share some sweet moments together.

Taking a few moments to gather, share a snack, and enjoy each other’s company is more than just about cookies—it’s about building connections and celebrating the little things that bring joy to our workplace.

Our residents spent the afternoon making stuffed crescent rolls, and the room was full of smiles, laughter, and the delicious smell of fresh-baked goodness. Everyone had a chance to roll, stuff, and shape their own crescent creations, filling them with all sorts of tasty spreads. The best part? Adding a drizzle of icing on top for that extra touch of sweetness!

This activity was more than just baking—it was about sharing stories, sparking memories, and enjoying each other’s company. Food has such a special way of bringing people together, and today was a perfect example of that.

Of course, taste-testing was the highlight! Our residents proudly sampled their beautiful (and very tasty!) crescent rolls, and we all agreed they were as wonderful as the hands that made them.

We love creating moments like these that nourish not only the body but also the heart!

On Tuesday, our residents enjoyed an outing to the Muskingum County Fair for senior day. They savored delicious food, visited with special friends from the community and even got to meet some friendly animals. A special highlight of the day was a visit from the 2025 Muskingum County Fair Queen herself, who brought extra smiles and charm to an already wonderful day.

It was truly a day full of joy, laughter and great memories!

Therapy Thursday: Bocce for Body & Mind

Residents enjoyed a special round of bocce ball—and it wasn’t just for fun! Bocce is a great therapeutic activity that helps with:

✅ Physical Benefits – Rolling the ball supports gentle movement, coordination, balance, and grip strength.
✅ Cognitive Engagement – Players think ahead, plan their throws, and make quick strategic decisions.
✅ Social Connection – Friendly competition sparks laughter, conversation, and camaraderie.
✅ Accessibility – Bocce can be adapted for different mobility levels, making it a game everyone can enjoy.

It’s amazing how something as simple as a game can boost wellness in so many ways!

We had such a wonderful time when Sarah from the Muskingum County Library joined us for a creative and heartwarming craft session — making custom buttons!

With colorful designs, fun phrases, and a lot of imagination, residents created one-of-a-kind buttons to wear or share. Some participants even went the extra mile by making special buttons as gifts for others, adding an extra layer of kindness to an already joyful activity.

These moments of creativity are more than just fun — they’re a chance to connect, express ourselves, and build community. Whether it was making a button that shared a favorite saying or simply helping a neighbor choose the perfect design, everyone walked away with something meaningful -and wearable!

A big thank you to Sarah and Muskingum County Library System for bringing this engaging program to us. We’re so grateful for partnerships like these that bring learning, laughter, and creativity right to our door.

We’re already looking forward to the next visit!

Today we’re shining a spotlight on Jackie, one of our amazing Activities Assistants!

Jackie gives 100% every single day. She never rushes conversations. She takes time to truly listen and connect with our residents. She goes out of her way to make sure everyone feels included in the activities. Jackie is also a huge support to both residents and fellow staff members.

She doesn’t just love her job, she lives it. From themed events to quiet one-on-one moments, Jackie ensures every resident has the best time possible.
Thank you, Jackie, for everything you do. We’re so lucky to have you on our team!

Things got extra cheesy when our amazing staff took part in a Macaroni Dish Contest — and let’s just say, the competition was deliciously fierce!

From creamy classics to unique twists, staff members brought in their very best macaroni creations for everyone to sample, enjoy, and vote on. The variety was incredible, the portions were generous, and the flavors? Absolutely unforgettable!
After all the votes were in, we’re excited to announce that the winner of the contest was our Receptionist, Brittany, with her mouthwatering baked macaroni and cheese! Her dish was cheesy, golden, and perfectly seasoned — a true crowd favorite!

A huge thank you to all the participants who shared their time, talent, and tasty recipes with us. It was a fun way to bring our team together and celebrate the creativity that goes beyond the workplace.

Nothing says summer like an ice-cold slushie — and recently, our amazing staff got to kick back and enjoy a well-deserved treat in celebration!

We served up two delicious flavors: Cotton Candy (a sweet blast from the past!) and Piña Colada (tropical vacation vibes in a cup!) — and let’s just say, the smiles and laughter were as plentiful as the brain freezes!

At Willow Haven, we believe in taking time to appreciate our hardworking team that keeps everything running smoothly — and sometimes, that appreciation comes in the form of colorful, icy goodness! Whether it was sipping between shifts or taking a moment to cool down in the sunshine, this little celebration was a refreshing reminder of how much we value our staff.

Thank you to everyone who makes Willow Haven such a warm, caring, and FUN place to be. You all truly deserve every sweet sip.
