Diabetics need to know how they should add foods accordingly, what to eat and what not to eat. Accordingly, the foods that diabetics should eat include:
Powdered sugar group: Whole grains, beans, rice with bran on, vegetables... are processed by steaming, boiling, baking, minimizing frying, stir-frying... Root vegetables such as tapioca are also provide quite a lot of starch, so if people with diabetes eat these types, they need to reduce or cut rice.
Meat and fish group: People with diabetes should eat fish, lean meat, skinless poultry, fat-removed meat, legumes... which are simply processed such as steaming, boiling, pan-frying to remove fat.
Fat and sugar group: Foods with unsaturated fats are preferred in the diet of diabetics such as soybean oil, sesame, fish oil, fish fat, olive...
Vegetable group: People with diabetes should eat more vegetables in their menu through simple processing methods such as raw, steamed, boiled, mixed vegetables but should not use many types of fatty sauces.
Fruits: Diabetics need to increase their intake of fresh fruits, do not process them further by adding ice cream and milk, and limit their intake of sweet and ripe fruits such as durian, ripe persimmon, ripe mango...
Also according to the National Institute of Nutrition, the ratio of energy-producing components in the daily meals of diabetics is specifically determined as follows, which will be very good in stabilizing and treating the disease:
* Protein: Protein intake should reach 1-1.2 g/kg/day for adults, ie this ratio should be equivalent to 15-20% of dietary energy.
* Lipids: Fat percentage should be 25% of total energy intake, should not exceed 30%. Limit saturated fatty acids. This helps stabilize blood sugar, preventing atherosclerosis
* Glucose: The ratio of energy provided by glucose should reach 50-60% of the total dietary energy of diabetics. Should choose foods with low glycemic index such as: brown rice, rye bread, oats, whole beans...

7 notes for people with diabetes
1. Don't skip meals to reduce calories
Do not skip meals to reduce calorie absorption because skipping meals often leads to snacking and overeating at the next meal. Therefore, you should maintain the frequency and timing of meals. If you are not hungry at dinner, you can reduce your portion size or eat some fruit to prevent cravings at night. Remember that skipping meals not only leads to low blood sugar, but can also cause serious discomfort such as dizziness, increased heart rate, and cold sweats.
2. Eat a lot of fiber
Starting your day with a large serving of fiber will not only keep you full for longer, but will also prevent you from snacking during the day. A high-fiber breakfast can include oatmeal, whole grain bread, fruits and vegetables that help stabilize blood sugar.
3. Stay away from sugary drinks
You need to be careful to reduce the amount of soda, juice and other soft drinks, and quench your thirst with water. The high sugar content in sodas and fruit juices can cause hyperglycemia, leading to increased thirst, frequent urination and high calories, leading to weight gain. Also, it's important to stay hydrated during the day by increasing fluids such as coconut water, barley water, buttermilk or water, and not drinking carbonated beverages or sodas.
4. Choose natural sugar
Instead of artificial sugars, use natural sugars that are nutritious and rich in fiber. Fruit sugar and fiber are better than regular sugar, which can lead to high blood sugar due to being high in refined sugar and high in calories. However, natural sugars such as fruit and dates are less likely to cause sugar cravings, because sugar from fruit is absorbed more slowly into the bloodstream and, therefore, keeps blood sugar stable for longer. Furthermore, they are naturally digested more slowly and enter the bloodstream more regularly.
5. Limit the use of foods containing oil, butter, and buffalo milk
Foods containing oils, butter, and plain butter should be avoided because fat can raise blood sugar.
6. Limit alcohol use
Drinking a lot of alcohol can decrease the body's sensitivity to insulin, thereby increasing blood sugar. Drinking alcohol regularly can cause weight gain and, therefore, increase the risk of uncontrolled diabetes. Therefore, people with diabetes need to limit alcohol intake, should only drink a maximum of one cup (30ml) per day, drinking too much alcohol can cause blood sugar to rise or fall.
7. Exercise regularly
Even simple activities like gardening, climbing stairs, or going for a 20-minute walk can boost metabolism and burn calories. So you need to maintain regular exercise.

CLASSIFICATION OF DIABETES
Diabetes is classified into 3 main types: Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes, and gestational diabetes.
Type 1 diabetes
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disorder in which the body's immune system attacks the pancreas rather than external factors. This causes a lack of insulin and an increase in blood sugar
If you have type 1 diabetes, symptoms will appear early. Currently, the cause of type 1 diabetes is still unknown. However, doctors believe that the cause of type 1 diabetes may be genetic or environmental. You have a higher risk of type 1 diabetes if you fall into the following categories:
Mother or sibling with type 1 diabetes
Antibodies to diabetes are present in the body
Vitamin D deficiency, early use of cow's milk or cow's milk powder, and use of cereals before 4 months of age
Type 2 diabetes
This is non-insulin dependent diabetes, the most common type of diabetes today. The disease usually occurs in adults, however, due to the increasing prevalence of obesity, the prevalence of obesity in adolescents is increasing.
When you have type 2 diabetes, your cells are resistant to insulin, the pancreas cannot produce enough insulin to supply the body. Instead of moving to produce energy for the body, sugar builds up in the blood.
Gestational diabetes
Gestational diabetes is a type of diabetes that occurs during a woman's pregnancy. This disease can cause problems for both mother and baby. However, gestational diabetes usually goes away after the mother goes into labor.

Causes and Risk Factors
Causes and Risk factors of Type 1 Diabetes
The exact cause of Type I Diabetes is unknown. In some people, genes may be responsible whilst in others, a virus could possibly set off the immune system attack where it can mistakenly attack the insulin producing beta cells of the pancreas.
Risk factors
Family history : Anyone with a family history of Type I Diabetes like a parent or sibling generally has a slightly increased risk of developing the disease.
Genetics : Having certain genes may increase the risk of developing Type II Diabetes.
Age : Although type 1 diabetes can occur at any age, it appears usually at two noticeable age peaks. The first peak occurs in children aged between 4 and 7 years whereas the second occurs in children aged between 10 and 14 years. Developing Type I Diabetes in later years is usually rare.
Causes and Risk factors of Prediabetes and Type II Diabetes
Type II Diabetes is usually caused by a combination of different factors. Having certain predispositions makes some individuals more prone to developing Type II Diabetes. They are:
Family History : Anyone with a family history of Type II Diabetes like a parent or sibling generally has a slightly increased risk of developing the disease.
Genetics
Age : 45 or older
Obesity
Metabolic syndrome : Cluster of different medical conditions such as elevated blood pressure, cholesterol, triglyceride levels, prediabetic and obesity.
Ethnicity : Asian , African American, Native American, Alaska Native, Hispanic, or Pacific Islander American
Gestational diabetes during pregnancy
Polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS)
Depression or stress
Lack of physical activity
Smoking
Irregular sleeping and waking up schedule
Causes and Risk factors of Gestational Diabetes

Risk factors include:
Excess weight and unhealthy lifestyle before pregnancy are attributed as definite contributing factors.
Family history of Diabetes
History of Gestational Diabetes during the previous pregnancy term
Having previously delivered an infant with a high birth weight
