⚠️ Ho Chi Minh City has reported a significant increase in hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) cases, with 581 new cases recorded from May 20 to May 26. This marks a 26% rise compared to the average from the past four weeks. The total number of cases in the city has now reached 5,086.
📍 The districts most affected are Nha Be, Binh Chanh, and District 8, showing high incidents per 100,000 people.
🔬 Health experts warn that a large number of samples have tested positive for Enterovirus 71 (EV-71), known for causing severe complications and potentially fatal outcomes in HFMD.
👶 HFMD primarily affects young children. It spreads through the gastrointestinal tract, highlighting the need for excellent personal hygiene among children and caregivers.
🩺 Symptoms to watch for:
- Fever, fatigue, sore throat
- Rashes on palms, feet, knees, buttocks
- Mouth sores on cheeks, gums, tongue
🏥 Immediate hospitalization is advised if symptoms include high fever unresponsive to paracetamol, vomiting, convulsions, or increased heart rate.
