HOW TO STAY MOTIVATED AS A TAROT READER
This post is for my tarot advisors community. As a professional tarot reader, anyone might, at least once in our lifetime, find it hard to maintain our interest in the cards, we feel unmotivated. To overcome this common symptom, here are some tips to note:

Tip 1: Set up a corner for tarot
Environment defines our motivations and since our main job is tarot reader, we can help ourselves by creating an inspiring tarot space. You can choose a corner in your bedroom or reading room to set it up. Changing it vibes with your favorite decoration and spiritual tools like crystal balls or cards collection, etc. Everyday, when you are sitting in this place, you are setting an intention to sit with your cards and work with them.

Tip 2: Do some tarot DIY
If spreading tarot cards leads to boredom sometimes, you can switch the experience to involve other activities that are related to tarot. One of the great ways is to engage in DIY. You can try to do tarot card pouches, cleanse your cards, make a tarot jar, etc.

Tip 3: Develop a daily draw habit
You can nurture your interest in tarot by creating a daily tarot draw. It should be the first thing you do in a day and you can maintain that habit by sharing it on social media, such as Instagram stories or Facebook stories, etc.

Tip 4: Build a tarot community
We are social beings so that our biggest motivators are partners we know in our lives! A tarot community should be the first place you turn to when you are drained in energy. Try to brainstorm new tarot ideas with them or simply listen to their tarot journey. You will feel inspired a lot to get up and continue your tarot stories.

Myths and Misconceptions about Tarot (Part 2)

Misconceptions and outdated myths about tarot have existed as long as tarot itself has. Some popular myths are:

5. It’s only about finding out your future 🔎
There are many different ways to read tarot: practically, psychically, for future divination, introspection, journaling, dream interpretation, etc. There is no one way we must all adhere to.

6. Messing with fate/bad luck 🃏
The classic plot of a self-fulfilling prophecy and a cruel twist of fate indeed are great hooks in a movie but this myth just falls apart in real life. A superstitious person is always going to blame the cards but in reality, it’s the fearful actions of the superstitious person that lead to their fate, not the cards.

7. The death card means literal death ☠
There are only 78 cards in a deck. For a full-time tarot reader with a busy schedule, this card can come up daily if not weekly. Truly the Death Card is about endings. Anything and everything ends from projects to a day’s work to a hairstyle, which can be as big or small as the reader sees fit.

8. It’s all just superstitious or just plain stupid to do what a bunch of cards say 🙉
The Tarot cards are a tool that brings your subconscious to the forefront of your mind. You’re not doing what the cards say, you are using the cards to pull out of you what you really think. Tarot is not superstitious, yet the actions of being superstitious cause so much downfall in a person’s life.

1. Your first deck must be a gift/handed down: 🎁
Nowadays it’s silly waiting around for someone to pick up hints that your birthday is around the corner and to get a deck for you. So save yourself the time and hassle and treat yourself to whatever deck you fancy.

2. You must not read for yourself: 🎴
You’ve spent your cash to acquire a deck, taken years to learn the art of tarot reading, and now... you sit around and wait for someone to ask for a reading? No. However, it is true that reading tarot for yourself can be difficult as we can be biased and only see what we want/expect to see in the cards.

3. You must be psychic to use tarot: 🔮
Tarot can be used with psychic abilities but just as easily used without them, such as introspection and journaling, exploring our internal landscape, and healing trauma.

4. You must not read for profit/money: 💰
Nah. If you provide a service you should absolutely be paid for it. Many tarot readers begin by reading for themselves, then friends, then offering free public readings and then starting with a small charge eventually upping their price as their skill grows. Often this process can take years and is a labour of love and true passion of the reader and a client is paying for this labour and attention to detail and clarification.

7 tips for getting the most out of your next tarot card reading 🔮

1. Every reader is different. Find one you vibe with
Not every tarot reader is going to practice in the exact same way. Some might ask you to shuffle the cards, some might prefer a conversation before your reading, and some might ask you to just sit in silence — and that’s OK.
But since tarot is about establishing trust between yourself and your reader, finding somebody with similar energy and purpose is the key.

2. Show up with an open-ended question
A yes-no question can often “stump the reading. We instead recommend coming up with a question that's less restrictive. That way, you’re opening yourself up to a conversation with your reader that’s more rich and nuanced

3. Don't like what you hear? You have the power to change it
Do not feel crippled with fear if your reading didn’t contain good news. The reading is a timestamp of what’s going on energetically around you, your circumstances and what you’re asking about. People might walk out thinking they have no power or agency over these events in my life, but that’s never true. You always have the ability to change how things are going to happen.

4. Time-related questions are tricky to answer
While many of us want to know if something will happen in the future, sometimes the more urgent question is when. But tarot readers might not have those answers.

5. Be forthcoming
Maybe you’re holding back a little as you establish trust with your reader. (Understandable.) Or maybe you need to be secretive so your reader can “prove themselves.” (Don’t be that person.) Just know that the more you share with your reader, the more your reader will share with you.

6. The death and devil cards are not (usually) omens
The death card can be about transformation. Let’s say you’re asking about your relationship and the death card comes up. It doesn’t necessarily mean the relationship is over. It’s that there’s a transformation happening and there’s going to be renewal on the other side.
The devil card can be about temptations — any place in your life where you know you need to break that pattern and you’re not. It’s more of a reminder of you being more authentic and true to yourself.

7. Tarot often helps confirm what you already know
Sometimes people seek guidance from others to validate what their gut is already telling them. Tarot readings can help with that, too.
