Regret Over Oversized Breast Implants Placed Via Transaxillary Incision – Capsular Contracture and Contraction; Patient Desires Explantation
The patient previously underwent breast augmentation at another facility. Over time, she developed capsular contracture and contraction with breast hardness and superior implant displacement, resulting in breast asymmetry. Seeking to address these complications, she consulted Dr Ho Cao Vu for evaluation and breast correction.
On clinical examination, the surgeon noted that the patient had predisposition to broad shoulders, large arms, and a short inframammary fold. Her previous augmentation had been performed via a transaxillary approach, which is commonly associated with superior implant displacement and internal contraction. The surgeon suspected a significant degree of contracture contributing to the contraction. Following a comprehensive assessment, Dr Vu advised explantation without implant replacement. During the procedure, if any areas of thickened capsule are identified, the surgeon will consider capsulectomy at a conservative extent. In cases where the capsule is not severely thick, capsulectomy may be avoided to optimize aesthetic outcomes and reduce the risk of complication recurrence.

Sau khi đánh giá tổng thể, bác sĩ tư vấn phẫu thuật tháo túi mà không cần đặt lại túi mới, trong quá trình tháo túi nếu nhận thấy phần nào bao xơ dày, bác sĩ sẽ xem xét bóc bao xơ ở mức độ phù hợp, nếu bao xơ không quá dày thì không cần bóc để đảm bảo kết quả thẩm mỹ, tránh nguy cơ tái phát biến chứng.
