At the Vanuatu Skills Partnership, 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂 𝒔𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 and 𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆 means thinking about our families too. 🤝👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

After settling into our new National Office location, our team have now set up a 𝑪𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒏’𝒔 𝑪𝒐𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒓 – a 𝒔𝒂𝒇𝒆 𝒔𝒑𝒂𝒄𝒆 where all children can play, read and relax when they visit. 🧸📚This has been our practice across our previous office settings, and we are pleased to continue it in our new space.

The initiative reflects our commitment to ‘𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒃𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆’ in the workplace ⚖️, recognising that many of our staff are parents and caregivers. 👩‍👧‍👦👨‍👦

We are grateful that we can create a work culture that values wellbeing, family, and flexibility. 💙🌿 Because when our staff feel supported, they can bring their best to the work we do together. 🙌

Through skills training delivered through the Ministry of Education and Training’s Sanma Skills Centre, in partnership with the Department of Industry and with support from the Government of Australia 🇦🇺, these women entrepreneurs are strengthening their weaving businesses 💼, building confidence 💪, and contributing to their families and communities 🌏🤝.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀. 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.

These are the results two local plumbers are now delivering in Southeast Tanna.

After completing their Certificate II in Plumbing through the Ministry of Education and Training Tafea Skills Centre supported by Australia, George Namry and Tom Kahi returned home to use their skills to give back to their communities. Namry and Kahi have supported the Yasur Run Local Organising Committee last year to build and install improved sanitation and toilet facilities for the event. Their work, supported through a DFAT Community Grant, is helping ensure the event is safer, cleaner🌿🌱, and more comfortable for everyone attending.

This is local leadership in action✊ — where nationally recognised skills training👷‍♀️🛠️ is turned into practical solutions by motivated change-makers to transform their communities🙌.

𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲! 👷‍♂️

Safe, clean water 💦 is now flowing to more than 𝟐,𝟓𝟎𝟎 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 in North Ambae — including 𝐟𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 and 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬. Behind this change is hands-on skills training and strong local partnerships.✊

Through the Penama Skills Centre under the Ministry of Education & Training, Vanuatu, the Australia-supported Vanuatu Skills Partnership worked with the Department of Water Resources and the Penama Provincial Government to support the Ambanga and Vandue WASH projects, delivering a first of its kind reliable gravity-fed water systems to communities.

𝐅𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐲-𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 members from 𝟏𝟎 𝐯𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 — including 𝟏𝟎 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 — 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐯𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠
,combining classroom learning with two months of practical experience 🔨🛠️upgrading the systems. Together, they helped install 𝟓𝟗𝐤𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟏𝟓𝟓 𝐭𝐚𝐩 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬.

Communities and local partners contributed materials, venues, food, accommodation, and labour — showing what’s possible when skills and collaboration come together to 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐫, 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬.

We are proud to support the construction of the South East Area Council building on Santo through the Sanma Skills Centre while upskilling 25 local trainees in building construction — a strong partnership with the Sanma Provincial Government and Pacific Australia Skills, contributing to the Government’s decentralisation agenda and strengthening local skills at community level!

We are incredibly proud to see so many trainees supported through the provincial Skills Centres under the Ministry of Education and Training take part in the first-ever Skills Competition in Port Vila.

It was a wonderful opportunity for them to showcase their talents and demonstrate the skills and experience they’ve gained.
