We would like to sincerely thank the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) for supporting the research and development of a reef-safe sunscreen based on locally value-added products manufactured by Lapita Café Limited.
This research aligns with the Department of Department of Tourism Vanuatus Policy (2019–2030), which focuses on protecting our environment—particularly our marine resources—as well as Regenerative Vanua Regenerative Verification Program.
Through this funding, Lapita Café was able to engage Sarah King from Nourish to Thrive to support the development and testing of Pacific Protect Reef Safe Sunscreen, as well as provide training for Lapita Café staff at the HACCP-certified factory in Luganville, Santo.
Nourish to Thrive also assisted in sourcing appropriate machinery to scale up production capacity at the Santo factory.
This collaboration between the private sector, government, international research organizations, and NGOs has led to positive innovation and environmentally friendly outcomes. 🌿
