This , we highlight the HPV champions supported by UICC who are breaking down barriers to vaccination and advancing the global strategy to eliminate cervical cancer.

Rukaya Mumuni is one of them. Rukaya is the Principal Nursing Officer and the Founder of the Women and Girls Empowerment (WAGE) Foundation in Ghana.

Rukaya’s HPV-related work centers on community cervical cancer awareness, screening, education in schools, and promoting HPV vaccination in underserved communities.

The Foundation combines prevention, early detection, and strong community engagement, ensuring that women and girls not only gain knowledge about HPV and cervical cancer but also have practical access to lifesaving screening and vaccination services.
